Liberty Bank for Savings, a community bank with 125 years of history in the Chicagoland area, today announced a surprise donation of $2,354 to New Hope Food Pantry to help address food insecurity near the bank’s Foster branch at 6125 W. Foster Avenue. New Hope Food Pantry is a volunteer-driven and volunteer-run organization that provides emergency food supplementation, school supplies, community gardening opportunities and more to 1,800 families on the northwest side of Chicago. The donation was made up of $1,177 from Liberty Bank staff along with a matching gift of $1,177 from the bank itself as part of their annual philanthropic giving program.
“Our commitment to our community is part of our charter. We believe it’s our responsibility to do what we can to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, even beyond what we can offer them from a banking and financial planning perspective,” said Tim Smigiel, EVP-COO for Liberty Bank for Savings. “Supporting local philanthropic organizations with like-minded missions, like New Hope Food Pantry, is a way for us to amplify our impact.”
“We’re grateful to the staff of Liberty Bank for supporting us,” said Donna Oberhardt, Executive Director at New Hope Food Pantry. “Donations like these are essential to our ongoing operations. The funds will be used to secure more meals for more families in 2023.”
