Wednesday, December 12 at 6:30 p.m. ~ Speaker: Martha Kaster

What role does or should patriotism have within our Christian identity.
After receiving her BA from Franklin & Marshal College in 1990, Rev. Kaster worked for the Fellowship of Christians in Universities and Schools (FOCUS) for 8 years before going into the discernment process with the Diocese of Central Florida. She was the lay chaplain at St. Edward's Episcopal School for 2 years before attending Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (TESM). She received a MDiv from TESM in 2006 and was hired as the Assistant Priest at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Des Moines, and was also direct commissioned into the US Army in order to become a Chaplain and fully accessioned as a Chaplain in the Iowa Army National Guard in January 2009. She was deployed to Afghanistan as a Battalion Chaplain for the Infantry from 2010-11 and later installed as the Rector of St. Luke's. Rev. Kaster continues to serve in the parish as well as the Brigade Chaplain for the 2/34th Infantry Brigade Combat Team within the Iowa National Guard.

Christmas Flower and Music Offerings for our Christmas Services
If you would like to contribute to the flowers to be used in decorating the church for Christmas or contribute to the beautiful instrumental music for our Christmas services, please find an offering envelope in this Sunday's leaflet or in the narthex. You may place it in the offering plate, place it in the box that can be found in the narthex or return it to the church office no later than December 15 so that names may be listed in the Christmas leaflets. Please be sure to print your loved ones names clearly!

Prayer Ministry. St. Francis is a praying church! God has blessed us with a team of clergy and prayer warriors who stand ready to support you in your time of need—or just to join you in giving thanks to God for specific joys in your life! In addition to healing prayer in the chapel after communion each Sunday, we also have a clergy-led team of  faithful and discreet people ready to visit in hospitals, in homes, to hear confession, to anoint with oil, to bring communion, or just to offer a prayer, a smile, and a word of encouragement. Please call the church office at 228-1176 and let us know how we can help to bring the light of Christ and the healing of the Holy Spirit to you or someone you love. If you would like to be a regular part of the St. Francis’ pastoral care and prayer ministry, contact Rev. Bob Coon at 502-909-2313 or Vivian Ruth Sawyer at 502-314-9637.
