CIS Dallas is Now Serving Grand Prairie ISD
Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region is excited to announce that we will now be serving Grand Prairie Independent School District for the remainder of the 2021-2022 academic year. With the inclusion of Grand Prairie, CISDR now serves over 12,000 students in 148 schools across 16 independent school districts in North Texas.
The holiday season has arrived, and so has the Communities In Schools Holiday Drive! We hope to supply at-risk students we serve with warm clothing and essential items to prepare them for the holiday and winter season ahead.
We are accepting winter items for holiday gift giving until Monday, December 13. For more information or to donate items, please contact Rubi Nava at rubin@cisdallas.org.
Youth Mental Health First Aid Training is Back
Youth Mental Health First Aid Training is a key component of the recently announced Safer Students, Stronger Schools campaign. After a hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions, the training has returned for the 2021-22 school year, beginning with Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region staff members. By the end of the fall semester, every CIS Dallas employee will be trained or scheduled to be certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid. This training is available to the community free for a limited time as part of our work to support students. Sign up HERE!

Adam Powell, CEO and Curtisha Taylor, Clinical Coordinator were featured on NBC 5 talking to Brittney Johnson about the 4S Campaign and the youth mental health crisis in schools.
CISDR hosted a mindfulness session at Klyde Warren Park early this month for #MentalIllnessAwareness week. Several experts were in attendance to speak on how our community can better support youth in crisis.
