Spring -- 2022
Welcome to the new Community + Economic Development Newsletter!
In late 2021, the Community and Economic Development Department conducted a survey in Clermont County as we develop our strategic and comprehensive plan for the next decade. One of the items that respondents said they wanted to see from our department was more communication and a return to the newsletter.

Seeking your guidance about solar and wind farms

Green energy companies are increasingly interested in building solar and wind farms on flat farmland. The Clermont County Planning Division and County Prosecutor’s office will host a meeting to get your feedback regarding this possibility.

Your thoughts will help us provide guidance to the Board of County Commissioners about appropriate areas for this type of development.

NEW format for Business Retention & Expansion visits
The Department of Community + Economic Development is implementing an exciting new format for future business retention and expansion visits, in an effort to reach more businesses every year. DCED is developing a group BR&E format, to run in conjunction with the traditional one-on-one visit program, with the first visit scheduled with Miami Township’s business community in April.

Need GIS data, but you don’t want or need the entire county?
In addition to the GIS division’s Downloads page, we also have a Data Download web map, where you can select the area needed and download GIS data for just that area!

Community Development Update
The Community Development Department administers around $1 million in CDBG funds from HUD to assist low and moderate-income areas and people in Clermont County. The Board of Commissioners awards these funds annually to help with projects in our Cities, Townships, Villages, and non-profits. Our office works year-round with recipients of these grants to help them apply and to make projects successful.

May 2-6 is Building Safety Week

Did you know that, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, we will spend nearly 90 percent of our lives inside buildings?

And buildings account for about 40 percent of total energy consumption in the United States.

Standards for safe and efficient buildings are important to our lives and prosperity.

Beginning May 2, we will be celebrating Building Safety Week in Clermont County and the Building Division. Building Safety Week helps us bring awareness to the importance of sound construction standards, the importance of permitting for new structures, and to promote careers in the building safety industry.

Please join us in celebrating Building Safety Week and do your part to make our county a safer, more efficient place to live, work and grow!
