A Note from the Principal
Car line is going well and we would like to thank all parents and guardians for their patience and for following the rules.  Please remember that smoking is not permitted on school property. This includes carline. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance in modeling healthy behavior for our students.  We really enjoyed seeing all of you at Open House Thursday night. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our next building event! PTA will be sponsoring a Family Movie Night on October 12, 2018.  Watch for more information.
Counselor Corner
We are happy to announce that there are two counselors at the EEC for the first time for our kindergarten classes! We are excited to be able to bring your kindergarten students lessons every other week. For our first lesson, we talked about what a counselor is and read the book Mrs. Sand Dollar and completed activities that explain more about who we are and what we will do with your children. This week we "took a trip to Personal Space Camp" and read the book Personal Space Camp. The students participated in activities in which they practiced respecting everyone's "comfort bubble", and making good choices about personal space. Our next lessons will be on bullying. Here at the EEC, bullying is defined as one student or a group of students being mean to another student repeatedly and on  purpose . Your child will learn about the EEC's rules against bullying and participate in activities surrounding the topic. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out by calling us at Gilles-Sweet Elementary or emailing us at or

Box Tops
Please continue to send in your clipped Box Tops in a baggie labeled with your child's name. The classroom that collects the most Box Tops will be rewarded with a special party!   Currently, Mrs. Kellner's class is in the lead! The PTA is able to provide extra programing with the Box Tops!  Last year over $800.00 was raised! Don't forget to ask family and friends to clip Box Tops as well! When shopping keep in mind the brands General Mills, Nature Valley, Cascare, Yoplait GoGurt, Annie's and Land O'Lakes.  For a complete list and more information go to

Fairview Park PTA Council "Reflections" Art Program
The Ohio PTA, through National PTA, holds an annual cultural arts program, Reflections. Children in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit original works of art in six areas: literature, visual arts, photography, dance choreography, film production and music composition. The Reflections program allows PTAs throughout the state to recognize children for their creativity as they reflect on the yearly theme. Teachers, parents, children and community can get involved in enhancing arts education though the Reflections program. The Reflections Program is one of the best examples of the PTA's ability to bring out the best in our youth. PTA strongly supports education in the arts. It is about creating educational excitement and involvement within our schools between parents, teachers and o ur kids.

Students can enter Reflections® in the following grade divisions - Primary: preschool-grade 2, Intermediate: grades 3-5, Middle/Junior: grades 6-8 and Senior: grades 9-12. They may submit works in any of the six arts areas: Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual arts, Dance Choreography, and Film Production. Special Artists can submit entries in any category. Our Reflections program begins at the local level, advances to PTA Council level, then to State for judging. The State winners of the Award of Excellence are then advanced to National PTA.

This year's theme is " Heroes Around Me." All students that wish to participate in the Reflections Art Program need to fill out the entry form and return it along with their original artwork to their school office by November 1, 2018. Here is a link to the rules and the entry form.

All participants will be invited to an Art Show to view the masterpieces created in January.
