Kindergarten Counselor Corner
This week in the kindergarten classrooms we discussed conflict resolution/problem solving. We read the story Talk and Work it Out . We went over the steps to talking and working out problems:
  1. Talk about the problem
  2. Listen to understand
  3. Think of ways to solve it
  4. Choose the best plan
Next, we went over strategies to help the kindergarteners be their own problem solvers. These strategies include: Walk away and let it go, Use "I messages," Go to another activity and Playing rock, paper, scissors to name a few. Next time, we will be discussing the difference between tattling and reporting.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out by calling us at Gilles-Sweet Elementary or emailing us at or

Giving Tree
In the spirit of the holiday season we have 'adopted' several local families. There are tags on the door of the front office. On the tags are specific ideas, or needs for our adopted families. If you would like to participate, please take a tag from the door. Once you have purchased the item, please wrap and return with the tag securely fixed on the outside of the gift. Place the gifts in the front office and we will deliver them to the appropriate families. Please have all gifts returned to the office no later than Friday, December 14 th .

We all know this time of year tends to get a bit hectic. It is nice to take the time out of our busy schedules to spend time with our families and to think of others. This can be a family project, to help bring more meaning to this busy holiday season. Again, we thank you for your support and generosity.
