From the Rector
Dear people of St Peter’s,
Barring huge amounts of snow, the Men of St. Peter’s gather on Saturday February 9 th  8:00 - 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall for breakfast. All are invited.
Ushers and Greeters are encouraged to attend a meeting Saturday February 9 th  10:00 - 11:00 a.m. with Sgt. Dan Gomes of the Carson City Sheriff’s Department. We’ll be discussing situational awareness and safety on the church campus during Sunday services. All are welcome to attend.
Northern Nevada and the Sierra Nevada range continue to amaze me. Bundle up, and be careful in the heavy snow.

Blessings in the new year.
Safety Meeting

On Saturday February 9 th in the Parish Hall from 10:00 -11:00 a.m., all Ushers and Greeters at both Sunday services are encouraged to attend a meeting with Sgt. Dan Gomes, Carson City Sheriff’s Department, to extend the conversation of the Church Safety Committee regarding situational awareness on the church property during Sunday services.
Sgt. Gomes will bring his own experience of remaining vigilant while at the same time welcoming those who join us on Sundays.
This meeting is focused specifically on Ushers and Greeters, but all in the parish are welcome to attend.
Peter Mires at Nevada Archives
On Tuesday February 12th, noon to 1:00 p.m., parishioner Peter Mires will appear at the Nevada State Library and Archives for a discussion, “Touching the Past Through Places and Objects.” The meeting will be held in the Board Room. Light refreshments will be served.
Peter holds a Ph.D. in historical geography from Louisiana State University. Since first coming out West in 1990, Peter has been fascinated with Carson City and Lake Tahoe. He has authored Tahoe’s Rustic Architecture (2016) and Lost Carson City (2018) as well as over 50 scholarly articles, book reviews, and op-ed pieces. Find more about Peter at his author website < petermires.com >.
Forward Day by Day Is Here
St. Peter’s subscribes to Forward Day by Day, containing brief daily devotional readings and supplementary scripture references. The new issue for February-March-April is now available in the narthex, just inside the main entrance to the church, and in the Parish Hall. If you find we have run out, please advise Administrative Assistant Adrianne Gonzalez.
From Food for Thought
Food for Thought has as its mission “to send children home from school on Fridays with healthy food for the weekend, so they start school Monday nourished and ready to learn.”
Executive Director Marlene Maffei has extended thanks to the supportive parishioners of St. Peter’s. Through special Sunday collections in 2018, you contributed $733 in cash donations to Food for Thought. Thank you!

Healing Prayer Service
Remember we have service every Wednesday at 10am. This service is to help our friends, family, and ourselves in need of healing prayer. If you have time, please attend. Everyone is welcome to attend.
"News & Inspirations” Submissions
We publish our e-Newsletter on Friday every two weeks. Please send your submissions – notices, news items, short feature articles – in Word format if possible to Administrative Assistant Adrianne Gonzalez. If you need, you can provide your submission instead by hard copy sent or delivered to the church office. Help us better communicate with one another! Be sure to make the articles short and concise as people tend not to read much more than a couple of paragraphs.
