Leaf Pick-up

Monday, December 8

Please Note:

  1. One time pass only.
  2. No trash or debris other than the leaves.
  3. All leaf piles should be at the edge of yards or behind the drainage ditch.
  4. Do not pile leaves in drainage ditch. (Heavy rain can cause the leaves to block and clog the gutters, creating potential hazards.)

If your unable meet the Dec 8th deadline, please make arrangements to have them collected at your own expense.

Reminder

Now is a good time to check your drainage ditch to ensure it is clear of leaves and debris. The drainage ditches along the front of your properties are the responsibility of the homeowner to ensure they are clear. This will help water flow as intended during a heavy rain.

Get into the holiday spirit! Feel free to bring your electric candles and help light up the parade route. Let’s make this celebration shine even brighter!

Adopt an Angel

Stop by the Club starting Wednesday November 26 and select an ornament from the Salvation Army "Adopt an Angel" Tree.

By adopting an ornament, you'll be paired with a local family in need, and your generosity will help brighten their holiday season.

The tree is in the lobby. Pick a tag

All gifts must be returned by

Friday, December 12,

at 5:00 PM.

Board Updates and Important Information

Call 911 for an Emergency, NOT the Gatehouse:

Calling the Gatehouse for emergencies delays response time

The gatehouse is a point of entry and security checkpoint, ONLY. They do not have the capacity to respond to emergencies.

Calling 911 ensures that professional emergency responders are alerted and can reach the scene more quickly.

Thank you for waiting for the Greenlight at the gates

It is important to maintain a safe following distance when approaching the gate. When vehicles follow too closely behind one another the camera cannot read your license plate to allow automated access and it can interfere with the proper operation of the gate system (e.g., the gate may not fully open or cycle correctly), which could result in damage to your vehicle and delays.

The "greenlight" signals that it's safe for the vehicle to proceed through the gate. Waiting for the greenlight ensures the gate has fully cycled and can open properly, preventing traffic backups and minimizing delays for everyone entering the community.

Please Leave an Emergency Contact Number at the Gatehouse

Please provide an emergency contact number to the gatehouse, which will be used for urgent situations.

By providing an emergency contact number, the gatehouse security personnel can quickly reach someone who can assist in an urgent situation or relay critical information on your behalf.

It's important that this number is updated and accessible so that in urgent situations the information can be communicated without unnecessary delays.

Stop by the gatehouse or email here to provide your emergency contact name and number.

From The Clubhouse:

Please remember that the golf course is not Common Area and is not available to be used for any activities other than golf and those designated by the Club. Walking on the paths or course and sledding are not permitted and present dangerous situations. Please respect our Club neighbors.

FIREPIT SAFETY

General safety guidelines

  • Maintain a safe distance: Keep your fire pit at least 10 to 25 feet from your house, garage, shed, fences, trees and other combustible materials.
  • Overhead: Maintain at least 10 feet of vertical clearance from any overhangs, trees, or structures. Some manufacturers recommend even more for high-heat gas fire pits
  • Keep it small: No more than 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet high.
  • Never leave a fire unattended: An adult must supervise the fire at all times.
  • Use proper fuel: Only burn seasoned firewood. Never burn trash, construction materials, or treated wood.
  • Have extinguishing tools ready: Keep a hose, a bucket of water, a shovel, or a fire extinguisher nearby to put out the fire or handle an emergency.
  • Ensure the fire is completely outBefore leaving the area, make sure all embers are completely extinguished by dousing with water and stirring.

Seasonal and local considerations

  • Check weather conditions: High winds and dry conditions significantly increase fire risk. Albemarle County Fire Rescue strongly discourages outdoor burning during these times.
  • Be aware of burn bans: Albemarle County may issue temporary burn bans during high fire danger periods, which prohibits all outdoor burning.
  • Follow local ordinances: In more densely populated areas within the county, open-air fires may be more restricted. It is always best to check with Albemarle County Fire Rescue or your local authorities for specific rules.

Super Hero

Glenmore's Unsung Heroes: Bob Cox

The Glenmore Community thrives due to our dedicated volunteers. Therefore, the GCA will be highlighting an exceptional volunteer on a routine basis in our monthly News and Notes.

Volunteer Spotlight:

This month’s volunteer of the month is Bob Cox. Bob has been working with local organizations such as the Virginia Department of Forestry and the Albemarle County Fire in order to submit the Glenmore Community to be a USA Firewise Community. Part of this process included submitting an application that spells out Glenmore's multi year plan to mitigate fire risk and educate residents on fire safety. The application Bob submitted became a benchmark for other communities across the state to use. Due to Bob’s tenacity and hard work, Glenmore was awarded the National Firewise Certificate on November 17th! If you see Bob around, thank him for his dedication to our community!

For Your Information...

Being part of the neighborhood association means following rules and regulations, which can sometimes be confusing. The FYI section of this newsletter is here to help residents better understand the community's expectations

Reminder: Property Modification Applications

To avoid any delays in processing, make sure your Property Modification Application is complete and includes all necessary information.

Tips for a Smooth Submission:

  • Read the Directions Carefully: Before you submit, take a moment to double-check the instructions. Following the guidelines helps ensure everything is in order.
  • File Formats Matter: Be sure to submit your documents in the correct file formats. The wrong format could slow down the approval process and delay your project.
  • Be Specific: The more specific you are in submitting information i.e. paint color, material being used, location of where you are wanting to remove or add something, types of plantings, etc. the faster the Architectural Review Committee will receive your application.
