2019-2020 Enrollment
It's time to enroll for our next school year.  You should have received an email  last  week with a link to the enrollment packet.  Please let us know if you did not receive the link.   The Instructions and Enrollment Checklist page of the enrollment packet contains supplemental enrollment forms that also must be submitted.  Further instructions on these forms are provided online.   Please send your registration fee of $300 per family to the school office by May 15.  Note: If you have a tuition credit balance, you may use that credit towards the enrollment fee.

If you have applied for tuition assistance through FACTS, please make sure that all the necessary documentation is scanned in so that your application is complete. Until the correct documents are provided, applications are considered 'submitted' and not 'verified.' Tuition assistance can only be granted if applications are verified. If you have questions, please contact the principal at  bkoetje@allendalechristian.com.

If you have any questions about the process, please contact Sara Kuperus, Administrative Assistant at  skuperus@allendalechristian.com  Brian Koetje, Principal at  bkoetje@allendalechristian.com  or call us at 616-895-5108.

Since enrollment is beginning , we will be creating class lists in the near future. The process of making class lists includes a lot of prayer and conversation, considering students' needs. We also understand there may be special circumstances that you would like to make us aware of as we consider placements. Please click on this link for the Class Placement Request Form if there is a special circumstance you would like to explain and have us consider. Please have these forms back to Mr. Koetje by May 3. Grades with two classes next year: K, 1, 2, 6.  Grades with a combination class: 3rd, 3/4 combination, 4th.

Parent Technology Information
Also, here are two new posts to  help families with screen time tools and to "Win the the Digital Age."

Do violent video games cause violent behavior in kids? The problem with finding the scientific answer to this question is that it can't be tested (at least not ethically!). But, in 2011, a study at Indiana University compared the brains of students who had played first-person shooter games for 10 hours/day for a week with those who had not. The MRI results were stunning. The brains of the video game group showed less activation in brain regions that control emotion and aggressive behavior! Young males are especially vulnerable. Parents can read more about the impact of screens and games on our kids here .

Mom and dad own every internet-ready device in the house. Did your son receive an iPhone for his 14th  birthday? Did your daughter bring a Chromebook home from school? What about the Kindle that came under the Christmas tree? Parents, it's important to remind your kids early and often that every internet-ready device in the home is co-owned by you. And, you have access to it 24/7. There's no such thing as internet privacy in the digital age! Inspect and verify .
You can learn about tips like this in the Protect Young Eyes Resources, where you can watch videos about the latest digital risks, including Snapchat, and instagram.
