ACS News
FACTS Tuition Assistance for 2019-2020  ACS participates in FACTS, a grant application program for our school. Completion of the FACTS application is a requirement for next year's enrollment if you are expecting a remaining balance at the end of the school year or you will be requesting tuition assistance. Families who wish to apply for tuition assistance will need to use the FACTS application format online at https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3Z45H. The application information will be easily accessible data from your 2018 tax return, along with financial accounts, and will require that copies of confirming tax documents be sent to the FACTS center.  The FACTS organization will analyze the information of each applicant. They will provide our school with recommended grant amounts based on need and financial status. Parents who have children in more than one of the participating schools need only to fill out the application one time-the information will be available to other Christian schools where their children attend. Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2019. The application fee will be paid by the participating schools.

Congratulations to Tyler Banka and Seth Breuker for representing ACS yesterday in the Regional Spelling Bee. Well done on making it to that competition!

3rd - 5th Grade Running Club Student brought home information about the spring season coming up in March.  All forms are due by Friday, March 1 if your child is interested in participating.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Deb Lamer @ dlamer@allendalechristian.com.

In order to cover the cost of 2018-2019 classroom field trips, parents are required to pay a one-time fee instead of paying each time there is a field trip. Cost covers the field trip and busing.  The fee is  K-4th grade: $20 per student,  5th - 8th grade: $30 per student.   
To thank parents for their support this year, the PTA is giving a field trip credit to those who worked on a committee this year! If your household served on 2 committees this year your family qualifies for a full credit, if your household has served on 1 committee your family qualifies for 50% of the credit. (Single parent households are only required to work on 1 committee)
Any family that still needs to pay a portion of their field trip cost will receive a form later this week with the amount due.   

The ACS Board is Directors is seeking candidates for a position on the Board starting with the 2019-2020 school year. All Board candidates must be supportive of the mission and vision of ACS, and a dedicated Christ-follower.  Board members serve for a three-year term and, if willing, may serve a second three-year term. Selections are made by lot at the Society Meeting in April. If you are interested, or would like to nominate someone for the Board, please email Brian Koetje (bkoetje@allendalechristian.com) or Board President, Don Lipinski ( donjr@merchandiseeq.com ).

On Thursday, March 7, from 7-8pm, ACS will host a Middle School Showcase for current 5th grade families , as well as anyone from the community who has interest in the ACS Middle School. This event will highlight the academic, extracurricular, and faith nurture opportunities experienced by ACS middle school students. If you know of someone who is considering ACS, please let them know about this day and time. I would also love for you to pass any prospective names to me so that I can invite them.

Note New Date! Important Technology Use Awareness event : Do you know what apps are on your child's phone? What are the latest social media trends? Do you wonder about how to talk to kids about online pornography, limit screen time, and protect them from digital strangers? In the digital age, parents must be observant, engaged, and informed. Join the Protect Young Eyes team at ACS on Tuesday, March 12 from 6:30-8:30pm. We'll discuss digital realities, strategies, and practical solutions that will enlighten, equip and encourage parents who want to teach their children how to use technology responsibly. The talk will include specific recommendations for filters and detailed explanations of popular apps and parental controls. This group presents all over the US, and they will be at ACS, in cooperation with Allendale, Borculo, Jenison, and Lamont Christian Schools. This is a don't miss event! The Scholastic Book Fair will be held March 12-15 in our school library!  Come check out the great selection of books. Also, stop by the  Dino-mite Scholastic Book Fair Open House kick-off on March 11 from 6-7:30pm!

Allendale Christian School will be hosting its 12th annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Saturday, March 23,  at Allendale Public High School! There will be divisions for boys and girls for each grade level in 3rd through 8th grade. NEW THIS YEAR: ONLINE REGISTRATION! TRIP
Instant Trip is held every  Tuesday  night from  7:00-7:30pm  with a pick-up ONLY sessions every  Wednesday  morning from  8:30-9:00am.  In order for us to run this program we need at least three volunteers at each session  on Tuesday  night and one volunteer every  Wednesday  morning. If you are interested in volunteering. Please contact a trip coordinator or email Christy Breuker at   jcbreuker@yahoo.com.

The Heritage Christian School Spring Children's Clothing and Toy Sale will be held on Saturday, March 9 from 9am - 12:00. Items for sale include infant to teen clothing, outdoor/indoor toys, sports gear, books, games, shoes, sandals, baby equipment, maternity and more. Delicious baked goods are also for sale! A group of churches is putting together a Saturday Morning seminar aimed at helping parents disciple their kids more intentionally.     Join us March 9 at Remembrance Church for a half day seminar with Dr. Rob Rienow, Visionary Parenting: Capture a God-sized vision for your family. Discipling your children to know and love the Lord is not an easy task, but it is an important one.
