ACS NEWS & ENROLLMENT INFORMATION | |

2024-2025 Important Enrollment Note: New students entering Young Fives or Kindergarten recently received online enrollment instructions. Please complete this enrollment as soon as you are able. If your family will not be re-enrolling at ACS next year, please communicate this to Brian Koetje, Head of School, at bkoetje@allendalechristian.org as soon as possible, as we have already begun the process of purchasing supplies for next school year, and will begin class placements in the near future.
For returning students: Allendale Christian will automatically enroll your student for the 2024-2025 year unless we are notified that your student will no longer be attending ACS. Please review your account in your FACTS family portal to ensure all pertinent information regarding enrollment is correct (this includes demographics, emergency contacts, pick-up, and church changes). If there are no changes, account information from the previous year’s enrollment will be maintained.

Class Placement Request ACS teachers will meet soon to assign class placements for students where multiple class options exist. The child’s teacher knows the situations where students will experience the most growth. Factors that are considered are academic, social, and emotional needs, as well as the boy/girl ratio balance. ACS parents should only request special consideration for their child’s classroom placement if there are extenuating circumstances. These reasons may include unique social and emotional needs, possibly that the school does not know about. Please focus your requests on the needs of your child, as opposed to a specific teacher. Congratulations to Kyle and Becca Koning and big sister Aly, in the birth of a baby boy, Gideon, on April 17! Mom and baby are doing well. Becca is our Librarian here at ACS.
Grandparents’ Day is May 3 and will take place starting in the ACS Gym. See below for times and tours that follow:

Parking: If grandparents are able to park farther away, please park at Allendale Baptist Church or Family Fare. We're reserving the ACS lot for grandparents who cannot park far away.
Grandparents' Day - NOTE FOR PARENTS: A permission slip will be coming home with your child(ren) this Friday. Please indicate how your child(ren) will be getting home after Grandparent's Day and return to their teacher. There is NO busing home that day. If your child(ren) are in the first program, they are to dismiss by 10:15am (or before, if they are done with their tour). If they are in the second program, they are to dismiss by 11:30am (or before).

Staff Appreciation Luncheon Thank you to the volunteers who have offered to cover classrooms for the teachers so that they can attend the Staff Appreciation Luncheon! There are still quite a few sign-ups needed, particularly in first grade, second grade, third grade, fifth grade, middle school, Music, and Library! Spring Concert: I can't believe that it is almost May and that means our spring concert is approaching quickly! I am excited for you to hear all the hard work of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders in band and choir. The concert will take place on May 13 at 6:30pm at the Ceglarek Fine Arts Center (Allendale Public Auditorium next to the high school).
- Students should arrive at 6:00pm and there will be signs directing them to the correct areas.
- For the spring concert, students are asked to wear white tops and black pants. Girls are allowed to wear dresses (black and white) or long skirts if preferred. On top, a nice dress shirt is preferred (either a polo, a button down shirt, or a nice blouse). You can also add a pop of color for spring in the form of an accessory like a tie, scarf, jewelry or shoes (please no tennis shoes). I'll trust your best discretion! If you are having a hard time finding white shirts or black pants, I have a few options at school that you can use.
I can't wait to celebrate the achievements of your children and give the 8th graders a great final band and choir concert at ACS! Feel free to invite anyone and everyone! I know it is a busy time of year, but each student is an important part of the band and/or choir so it is important that they all attend! It is like the big final game of a sports season! If your child is not able to attend for some reason, I need to know by May 10 in order to plan accordingly. Thank you so much for your support this year! Did you know ACS has a committee that recycles ink and toner cartridges? There is a bin just inside the main entrance for you to drop off your used cartridges. Unity Christian Sports Physical Night – Unity Christian will host a Sports Physical Night on Tuesday, April 30 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the high school. A sports physical is required for all 7th and 8th grade Unity Christian Youth Football athletes. Per MHSAA rules, all students who wish to participate in athletics next year must provide school with a physical dated after April 15, 2024 PRIOR to tryouts/practice for their first sport. The cost for this sports physical is $15, payable that evening to Unity Christian High School. Students seeking a physical need to arrive with a physical form that is filled out with all signatures complete before they will be examined. You can find a physical form at this link or they can be picked up at Unity’s main office.
ACS "Old People Hoops" meets in our ACS gym at 7pm on Friday evenings. The cost is $5 or an affordable donation. Email ted.kiliszewski@gmail.com for more information.
Unity Christian Summer Sports Camps – Registration for Unity’s Summer Sports Camps is now OPEN for students ages 3 – 12th grade. New Unity Christian Boys Volleyball and Speed & Agility Summer Camps

Boys Volleyball Camp from July 15-18 for 6th-8th graders (12 – 2 p.m.) and 9th – 12th graders (2:30 – 4:30 p.m.).
- Speed & Agility Camp for boys and girls in grades 6 – 8. The camp will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 11 – July 25 (excluding July 2 & 4; boys meet from 9-10 a.m., girls from 10-11 a.m.). In this camp participants will work on improving their ability to run faster and change direction. Workouts will consist of sprinting, plyometrics (jumping), strength training, and reaction drills. Participants will take a pre and post-test in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, and pro agility, with results showing their improvement as they prepare for sports in fall 2024.
Unity Christian Youth Football for Grades 3 – 8 --Registration for Unity Christian Youth Football is now open! We will have 3rd/4th grade team(s), 5th/6th grade team(s), a 7th grade team, and an 8th grade team. Practices for 3rd-6th grades will begin on August 12 and grades 7&8 will begin on August 19. To plan accurately for the number of teams we will have in the fall, we ask that you register your player by June 1. *New this summer!* Musical Theater Camp will take place at Unity Christian High School June 3-6 from 3-5pm for 5th – 8th grade guys and girls! Learn musical songs and how to sing in parts while being expressive, acting and blocking skills that will help you in future Unity auditions and productions, and common dance moves from Unity and Broadway shows. Post Family Farm is HIRING: Post Family Farm in Hudsonville is looking to hire energetic ADULTS for seasonal work for our spring season. Our Spring season runs from May 1,2024-May 18,2024. Opportunities include donut makers, tour guides, and Saturday festival workers. Donut making involves working with several others in our bakery making donuts, filling orders and running the cash register. Tour guides take a group of children, teachers and parents around the farm both on and off a tractor (training provided). Festival workers may work in donuts, office, tickets or drive tractor to the pumpkin patch. No previous experience is required for any position.
