ACS NEWS & ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

Retirement Blessings: We wish Julie VanOordt (current Young Fives teacher) blessings on her retirement and thank her for her last 26 years of faithful teaching here at ACS. She has blessed so many and has truly made an impact on our students and community. We are thankful to still see Julie on Friday mornings as she continues to lead our chapel program next year!

Summer office hours: The office will be open this summer Monday thru Thursday from 9am until noon. If you have anything you need to drop off and it's outside of those hours, feel free to put it in the drop box located on the brick pillar out front.

Summer Tutoring is available from several ACS teachers: Please contact the teacher directly to set up tutoring for your child. Click here for the schedule.

Summer Music Lessons for Middle Schoolers: Miss Brummel will be offering music lessons on all band instruments and guitar for students entering 6th grade through 8th grade. These will take place on Tuesday mornings and early afternoons from June 11-August 6 (preferably no less than 5 lessons total). Lessons are $25 for 30 minutes. Please email Miss Brummel at mbrummel@allendalechristian.org if interested!

Market Day Thank You: Thank you all for helping the 4th grade class with a successful Market Day! Watch the video to learn how the $3,000+ you helped raise will make the school more handicap accessible.

7th and 8th Grade Robotics: Allendale Christian students are able to participate in the 7th and 8th Grade Robotics Team that is hosted by Hudsonville Christian and Unity Christian. If an ACS student is interested in joining this team, the family should express their interest as soon as possible by filling out this survey. This does not have to be a final commitment yet. The season runs from August until December (practices typically two nights a week) and is the next step for students interested in Robotics after 6th grade. As this is a part of the ACS Extracurricular opportunities for middle school students, ACS will help with the registration fee. If you have any questions, please send an email to Brian Koetje.

Hearing and Vision Screenings: Beat the back-to-school rush and schedule a free hearing and vision screening at Ottawa County Department of Public Health. Children ages 3 to 6 are eligible. Any child entering kindergarten in the 2024-2025 school year is required to have a hearing and vision screening. Call (616) 396-5266 to schedule.

Waiver Education Appointments: Do not wait to call the Ottawa County Health Department to schedule your waiver education appointment IF your child(ren) will be needing to have one completed prior to starting school in the fall. Because your child(ren) must be up to date on their immunizations or have a proper waiver filed in order to start school, it is very important to schedule sooner rather than later. Paper Gator progress: You all are doing an amazing job filling the Paper Gator, so much so that we've had to request extra empties! Please be certain you are only putting in approved material. Refresh your memory as to accepted items here! Keep up the good work!

ACS has a committee that recycles ink and toner cartridges: There is a bin just inside the main entrance for you to drop off your used cartridges. We then turn them into classroom supplies to help support our teachers and students! Thanks for your help in turning another form of trash into CA$H!! Trash for Cash: Continue to drop your Our Family Brand UPC's in the receptacle in the entry way and DIGITALLY submitting your Box Tops. Unity Christian Summer Sports Camps: Registration for Unity’s Summer Sports Camps is now OPEN for students ages 3 – 12th grade. New Unity Christian Boys Volleyball and Speed & Agility Summer Camps:

Boys Volleyball Camp from July 15-18 for 6^th-8^th graders (12 – 2 p.m.) and 9^th – 12^th graders (2:30 – 4:30 p.m.).
Speed & Agility Camp for boys and girls in grades 6 – 8. The camp will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 11 – July 25 (excluding July 2 & 4; boys meet from 9-10 a.m., girls from 10-11 a.m.). In this camp participants will work on improving their ability to run faster and change direction. Workouts will consist of sprinting, plyometrics (jumping), strength training, and reaction drills. Participants will take a pre and post-test in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, and pro agility, with results showing their improvement as they prepare for sports in fall 2024.

Register by June 1 for Unity Christian Youth Football! Registration for Unity Christian Youth Football is taking place, and we would love to have participants register by June 1 so we can plan for the correct number of teams at each grade level. We will have 3^rd/4^th grade team(s), 5^th/6^th grade team(s), a 7^th grade team, and an 8^th grade team. Practices for 3^rd-6^th grades will begin on August 12 and grades 7&8 will begin on August 19.
