ACS NEWS & ENROLLMENT INFORMATION
ACS has posted two teaching positions for next school year. Candidates should have a deep love for Jesus, an understanding of teaching from a Reformed worldview, and a passion for working with kids to equip them academically, spiritually, and socially to gratefully serve God in all aspects of life. We are accepting cover letters and resumes for the following positions for the 2024-2025 school year:
- Third Grade Teacher (1.0 FTE)
- Young Fives Teacher (0.5 FTE) - Full days Tuesday and Thursday, ½ day Fridays
If you know of someone that has interest, please share this link with them, and have them send a cover letter and resume to Brian Koetje, Head of School, at bkoetje@allendalechristian.org.
Staffing Update: Ellie Roof will be stepping away from her Social Work position at the end of the current school year. We are grateful for the work that Ellie has done at ACS and appreciate her care and compassion for the students that she has worked with. We wish her well in the future. As we plan to continue to offer full-time social work at ACS, we will be posting a 2-day position on the school website. If there is interest in the position, please visit the Employment Opportunities page.
ACS Book Fair - On March 2-8, ACS will be having its annual book fair at school through i55 Book Fairs, a company who is dedicated to glorifying God and aligning with biblical values in the book selection they provide. Students will have opportunities to shop during the week of the fair with their class. However, the community is also invited to a book fair open house Saturday, March 2, from 10 am-2 pm.
Finally, Mrs. Koning needs your help to make the fair run smoothly (particularly since she will be 33 weeks pregnant at the time). If you help at any point from March 1-8, she would greatly appreciate it. See this link to sign up. If there are questions, please email Mrs. Koning at rkoning@allendalechristian.org.
Middle School Play NEED: The ACS middle school students have put on a Spring play for the last several years. During all those years this community was blessed to have had an amazing individual who cared for all of our costumes by organizing, transporting, labeling, and cleaning them. Unfortunately, this year she is unable to assist. Because of this we are in need of someone to fill this role. This is a vital role for making our theatrical productions happen as well as being a big blessing to both the cast and myself. If you are interested in helping out in this way, please contact me. Thank you all for your support!

Head Lice - This is a likely time of year when lice can make a presence in schools. This is not a rare occurrence. Kids are the most susceptible to head lice. This brief information packet is meant to help parents know how best to take care of head lice if their child does indeed have this. One key item to note: The most common ways that head lice are spread is through family members, overnight guests, and playmates that are together often (which can happen at school). Below are a couple important resources for if you suspect your child has lice
Sickness: During this season of sickness, we just want to remind parents that students should be fever and vomit free for 24 hours (without medication) upon returning to school. This will help stop the spread of sicknesses throughout the school. Thank you!
Classroom Lunch Coverage Opportunities - MORE DATES ADDED! Our need for lunch coverage in classrooms continues! This is a GREAT way to support our teachers and allow them time with their teaching teams for professional development opportunities and planning purposes. Please consider signing up to cover your child(ren)'s lunch period so their teacher can step out of the room for these opportunities! Click HERE for the Sign-up Genius and see what dates are available. Thank you!

Do you know what the Paper Gator is?? Would you love a tangible way for your child and family to be Earth Keepers?? ACS's Paper Gator is located on the South side of the building and accepts loose paper products, which are then recycled and this company PAYS our school for this trash! This trash turns into CA$H !! Take a look at what paper products are accepted here! Set up a collect station at home, work, church, tell your friends and neighbors, and work on collecting that paper and simply dropping it into the receptacle at school. Easy peasy $$$$ to help support ACS!
Did you know ACS has a committee that recycles ink and toner cartridges? There is a bin just inside the main entrance for you to drop off your used cartridges. We then turn them into classroom supplies to help support our teachers and students! Thanks for your help in turning another form of trash into CA$H!! If you have any questions please contact Jodi Oosterheert at rjo5959@gmail.com.
Parents, Please do not forget to be on the lookout for that Trash that turns into CASH for ACS! Unfortunately, many companies have scaled back with their giving, which puts a greater responsibility on each of us to do everything we can to make our Trash for Cash add up! Recently flyers were sent home with your students regarding the digital Box Tops program, please see this handout or this link for instructions on this digital program. Box Tops and Our Family Brand physical UPC's are our two main programs to earn Trash money currently. Thanks for your help and dedication to earning every penny in order to lower tuition and support our teachers and students! Don't forget to follow the FB page: Allendale Christian - Trash for Cash for updates! Questions, please contact Erin Ensing at erinensing911@gmail.
