A Message for the Tufts Medicine Integrated Network primary care physicians, Network leaders (Presidents, Administrators, and Medical Directors) and Network staff:
Time Sensitive: Express Your Interest in the 2023 Medicaid and Medicare (MSSP) Programs
The deadline is approaching for private primary care physician practices to enroll in the 2023 Medicare MSSP ACO Program (MSSP participation is at the practice TIN level). If your practice is interested in participating in MSSP as a new entrant for 2023 (existing 2022 MSSP practices will remain in the program unless the ACO is otherwise notified):

  • Please contact your LCO Administrator by July 22, 2022
  • Your LCO Administrator will send your TIN, along with confirmation of interest, to the TMIN Medicare ACO team as soon as possible (the ACO team has a CMS non-negotiable deadline to add any new TINs for 2023 to the CMS portal no later than August 4, 2022, noon)
  • Your practice will be asked to sign a binding MSSP Participant Agreement by late August

All private practice primary care physicians and administrators were invited to join us at one of four webinars to learn about participation in the two state and federal payor programs:

  • MassHealth (Medicaid) Program (Deadline July 15)
  • Medicare (MSSP) Program for potential new PCP practice entrants for 2023 (Deadline to notify your LCO Administrator is July 22)

If you have a Tufts Medicine physician colleague who you’d like to see included in the 2023 Top Doctors issue of Boston Magazine, now’s your chance to make that happen!

Physicians who are vetted and selected as Castle Connolly Top Doctors will have a listing on the Castle Connolly website, and may be eligible to appear in this special issue of Boston Magazine.

  • Physicians wishing to nominate someone can register here: nominations.castleconnolly.com
  • Each nominating physician will need to use his or her personal NPI number, first and last name, email, hospital, specialty and zip code.
  • A Nomination Code for 2022 and a link to the nomination site will then be automatically emailed.
  • Each calendar year, a physician may nominate: 15 in their own specialty, 7 in each Family Medicine/Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, and 5 in each of the remaining specialties.

Those who would like to be featured themselves in Boston Magazine's Top Doctors issue, and already have previously been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, should be sure to submit nominations for their peers via this portal: by July 20, 2022.
By 7/15: Please Share Your Health Equity Insights
Are you or your practice involved with any formal community or cross-sector projects aimed at reducing health disparities by addressing social determinants of health? We want to hear from you!

Senior leaders from across Tufts Medicine are working to define a systemwide health equity (HE) strategy. This will be carried out in stages. The first stage involves doing an inventory of current HE-related initiatives across our system. This will help Tufts Medicine leverage expertise and resources, prioritize needs, and celebrate progress. We define “health equity initiatives” as any formal community or cross-sector project aimed at reducing health disparities by addressing social determinants of health. If you are involved in any HE-related initiatives, please take a few minutes to complete the HE Inventory Survey by July 15. For questions contact rodrigo.monterrey@wellforce.org.

Discussions Underway with MetroWest Medical Center
Last week, a public hearing took place in response to MetroWest Medical Center’s (MWMC) plans to discontinue their cancer services. At the meeting, Tufts Medicine announced that it is in exclusive negotiations with MWMC and its parent company, Tenet Healthcare, to possibly take ownership of the region’s cancer services, including hematology oncology, radiation oncology and infusion services. It is Tufts Medicine's plan to also explore other potential collaborations to meet the needs of patients in the MetroWest Community.

The Tufts Medicine Integrated Network is a distinctively different population health enterprise and value-based care contracting entity. It comprises 2,300 primary care and specialist physicians and advanced practice clinicians, working as Tufts Medicine employees or in private practice, delivering care in community and hospital settings. The Network’s purpose is to build healthier communities and to create healthy, rewarding experiences for our members and care teams. The Network was launched in July 2021 by building upon the legacies of two long-standing, high-performing organizations – Lowell General Physician Hospital Organization and New England Quality Care Alliance (NEQCA).
