Phase I of Microchipping Rule Takes Effect
Dec. 1, 2017
Phase I: Beginning Dec. 1, 2017, horses competing in classes that require a USHJA Horse Registration will be required to be microchipped to receive points.
Phase II: For the following competition year (2019), all horses that are competing in classes which require USHJA registration must be microchipped or will be ineligible to compete in Federation licensed competitions.
Confused about Age Verification?
For the 2018 competition year, horses competing in Young Hunter classes and Jumper classes restricted by the age of the horse must have their age verified by USEF prior to competing at a USEF licensed competition.

USHJA's bimonthly series on horse health and wellness is based on guidance and input from the USHJA Horse and Rider Advocates Committee. This series aims to provide members with information they can use, along with the regular guidance of a veterinarian, to help keep their equine partners happy and healthy throughout the year.
As the 2017 show season winds down, we begin to make plans for 2018. Some riders will stay close to home and show locally while others may venture south for the winter to compete in warmer climates. However you choose to spend your winter, it is important to plan ahead to ensure safe travels and successful showing for both you and your equine companions.
