We dedicated a home to a new family!
It was a beautiful day last Sunday as we dedicated and welcomed the Baptista family into their new home. This story is truly about the American dream. Two years ago, Luis and his mother (Carol) came to the United States to escape the oppression of the now socialist country of Venezuela. With the help of his aunt Judy, they had a place to stay while creating a solid work foundation. Within a short period of time, Luis was able to get a job at General Dynamics that helped pave the way for the rest of his family to come here. While Luis was here getting things ready, his wife and three daughters had remained in Venezuela enduring a poor economy and several interviews by customs and immigrations. After spending thousands of dollars, and a year later, they were able to come legally to the U.S. They came just in time to celebrate their first Independence Day!! Luis, his mother and his daughters are duel citizens and his wife is now a legal resident with the dream of becoming a US citizen.
We wish the family lots of luck and new memories.!!

Thankyou to the Volunteers...
We had a busy month filled with Team Build Volunteers that came out from The Hershey Company, AAA, LLB Architects, and our Bryant Habitat Campus Chapter.
A Team Build is when a company sponsors volunteers to come out to build on one of our sites. It's a great way for companies and employees to give back to the community, build confidence amongst co-workers, learn new skills and of course, build safe, decent affordable homes for first time low-income homeowners.

Tickets are $35 online or $40 at the door and include one ticket for a pint of beer or a flight of three samplings and a tour of the facility.

Every $100 puts in a Medicine Cabinet, $500- Countertops and light Fixtures, $700-$1,000 helps pay for paint, gutters, and a garden shed. $1500-$5000 helps pay for roofing materials, cabinets and countertops, interior doors and trim, Insultation. Our board is %100 volunteer so every dollar that is raised goes into building supplies for Habitat of West Bay and Northern RI. We are building in Burrillville and later this year in Woonsocket. If you are looking to learn new skills or put your homebuilding experience to work, this is a great volunteer opportunity. We are also looking for people to help make lunches and deliver to the sites. It doesn't always take bronze to volunteer!

As part of our
Veteran Build Program, volunteering with Habitat is a great way to help reintegrate back into society. We could use your skills and discipline, while you help build along side people in your community. Have a new mission, see a house to completion!

Are you a company that wants to sponsor a Team Build Day? We build on Saturdays, but can make special arrangements for a
Team Build during the week. Donations help us pay for materials, our site supervisor, lunch and T-shirts. We can create a special link with group photos to share with coworkers.

We are looking for volunteers to join our board
Have you thought about giving back or making a difference? Have you served on a board in the past? Our affiliate is looking for leaders and team players to take this chapter to the next level. We are looking for people to help with volunteer coordination, Church relations, Veteran Relations, Fund Development, Site Selection and contractors that have their license to pull permits and join our construction team.
We meet every month and builds take place on Saturdays. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes. Must have an entrepreneurial spirit and vision. Must be able to attend at least two meetings and pass a sex offender and criminal background check. Once on the board, some training and reading in required. There can be no conflicts of interest.
