Casey Cub’s Calming Corner Opens at Park School

This past year, Karen Stable, a teacher at Park School, created Casey Cub’s Calming Corner, a dedicated space to help students regulate emotions and return to the classroom ready to learn. Developed in collaboration with Principal Emily Macias, Social Worker Mabel Jimenez, and Head Custodian Quan Trammel, the room has been prepared, furnished, and introduced to staff with clear usage protocols. The calming space is now supporting students who need time to reset, while staff track outcomes to measure the program’s impact and continue enhancing the space.

Ossining MATTERS is proud to support programs that strengthen student well-being, foster positive learning environments, and provide meaningful resources that help every student succeed.

Project Inspire: Fitness Equipment for AMD

Project Inspire is in full swing, with new equipment assembled and in use at the Fitness Center. Physical Education classes have completed two weeks of training, and students have shown strong enthusiasm while using the stationary bikes, ellipticals, resistance bands, kettlebells, hip bands, dumbbells, and rowing machine.

Although some students initially found the resistance bands challenging, they persevered and embraced the experience. A key highlight has been the high level of engagement across all ability levels, with students motivated and appropriately challenged throughout the unit.

Ossining MATTERS is proud to support programs that promote health, wellness, and active living for our students.

Engineering Club/Robotics Program - OHS

The Ossining Engineering Club/Robotics team has had an exciting start to the competition season. Ossining MATTERS' grant helped fund their annual kickoff event, host 12 neighboring teams, and purchase essential equipment. Since January, more than 40 students have been meeting after school five days a week to design, prototype, and build their competition robot, and have recently completed a key milestone: construction of their swerve-drive base. Beyond technical achievements, the program continues to foster strong mentorship, with experienced team members guiding newer students and building a collaborative, innovative team culture.

Ossining MATTERS is proud to support the Ossining Engineering Club/Robotics program and the innovation these students demonstrate.
