Spring is Coming: Hikers Get Ready!
March/April 2021
Letter from Paul

Well, now, 2020 was a year. I don’t think any of us will ever forget it!
We mourn the 500,000 people who have lost their lives in our country – and the millions around the world – due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
And this is why Family Promise exists. To help those families who are homeless, who are hungry, who have lost their jobs, who need our help. It is not a coincidence that we are here – it is the reason we are here.

The Walk-in Dinner Celebrates 30 Years

Often referred to as “the little miracle that happens every day”, March 1, 2021 marked 30 consecutive years of that miracle in action! Even a pandemic did not stop the Walk-in Dinner Program from providing 150 meals or more seven days a week to our homeless and hungry neighbors.

Family Promise Super 50/50 Raffle

Put your luck to the test this St. Patrick's Day by purchasing a ticket for the Family Promise Super 50/50 Raffle! This year, proceeds from the raffle will benefit our Walk-in Dinner Program, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this month.

Home Sweet Home

We have great news. Family Promise has secured an additional apartment for our New Leaf Program, offering another family the opportunity to have a new home! As Trish always said, “New Leaf is where the magic happens.”

Welcome to the Family, Cindy!

It is with great pleasure that we announce the hiring of our newest addition to the Family Promise team, Cindy Florencio. Cindy will replace Trish Giglio, who retired in April, and join Luz Galeano as a Family Case Manager.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Because the need for food continues and because of our extensive experience delivering healthy meals to the community, Family Promise and the Community Chest of Englewood have teamed up in the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Winter Dinner Program. The program provides access to free, nutritious meals, this time in the form of meal vouchers.

Spotlight on Walk-in Dinner Team Leaders

They say it takes a village…and when it comes to the Walk-in Dinner Program this certainly applies! A team of nine is at the shelter seven days a week to pack up, deliver, and distribute 150 meals that have been generously donated. We are profoundly grateful to each and every one of these volunteers who have been dedicated over many months, sometimes working several days a week.

Facebook Fundraisers

You can now help raise money for Family Promise through Facebook Fundraisers!
Creating a fundraiser on Facebook in honor of your birthday or any occasion is a fun and simple way to help raise funds to support Family Promise programs.

Point in Time Survey 2021

The Point in Time Survey, the nation’s attempt to count all those who are homeless, took place on January 27, 2021. Families and individuals living in shelters and in programs such as the Family Promise Network and New Leaf Apartments are included in the count, as are those staying in hotels paid for by another entity.

Wish List

We are thankful to the community for your generosity in donating items on our Wish List. At this time, for the safety of our families, staff and donors, we are NOT accepting any donations except Shoprite and other gift cards, which can be mailed to our office at 100 Dayton Street, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Please include your name, address and the value of the gift cards so we may send you an acknowledgement letter for your donation.
