Building Community Care Update

If you have driven by 21 Angeline Street North in Lindsay lately, you will have seen our Building Community Care project moving along! We are in the final sprint as we prepare to move into our new space this Fall.

Paint is on the walls, tiles are on the floors, light poles are installed, cabinetry is being installed, wood ceilings are being mounted – the building is certainly coming together! With spaces in the building becoming more and more defined, we can now envision clients in our dental operatories, our dietitian leading a cooking class in our teaching kitchen, an exercise program being held in our multi-purpose space, a client seeing a provider in one of our exam rooms, and so much more!

We thank the community for your interest, we are beyond excited to open this new space to support the City of Kawartha Lakes! As we narrow in on official moving dates for all of our moves, we will be sure to communicate those with our community!

Make sure you follow us on our social media channels so you don't miss any updates!

Bringing Comfort Home: 70+ Palliative Care Assessments Completed by Dedicated Physicians

At CCCKL Hospice Services, we take immense pride in delivering compassionate care that meets the unique needs of each client. We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on two of seven dedicated on-call physicians who support Hospice Services’ Palliative Care Community Team (PCCT). Dr. B. Paul and Dr. S L. Francis have been making an indelible impact in the lives of our palliative care clients through in-home physician consultations.

Palliative Care Redefined: A Holistic Approach Where You Are

The physicians support Hospice Services’ Palliative Care Community Team (PCCT) and the clients we serve. This team is all about enhancing the quality of life for individuals facing life limiting illnesses, and supporting their families. To provide the most comprehensive and personalized care possible, this dynamic duo of physicians embarked on a journey to bring palliative care initial physician consults directly to the homes of our clients. Since April 2023, they have completed an astonishing 70+ in-home assessments, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those in our community.

Client Testimonials: The Heartwarming Impact of In-Home Assessments

"The doctor has a gift for making you feel heard and cared for. Her in-home visit was a turning point for me and my family. We finally felt like we could manage at home."

Beyond Medical Expertise: A Source of Comfort and Support

The PCCT understands that palliative care is not just about medical interventions; it's about creating a supportive environment that promotes physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. By conducting a physician consult in the comfort of our clients' own homes, Dr. Paul and Dr. Francis, along with the entire PCCT ensemble, have been able to establish deeper connections, understand individual needs better, and offer tailored care plans that provide true comfort in-line with the clients’ goals of care. Evidence shows early engagement with a palliative care approach is beneficial in preventing emergency room visits and crisis in the home.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the endless possibilities that lie before us. With the pioneering spirit of these physicians, we are confident that our palliative care services will continue to evolve, adapt, and touch even more lives in our community.

Please call us at 705-324-7323 ext 550 if you or your loved has been diagnosed with a life limiting illness and could benefit from a palliative approach.

We offer Pickleball on Mondays (7 – 9 pm), Wednesdays (7- 9 pm) and Fridays (9-11 am) at the Bobcaygeon Curling Club. It is $3 to participate and no pre-registration required.
