Community Health Centre Parking

Please note that effective January 15th, 2024 there with be a flat rate parking fee of $3.00 at our new Community Health Centre.

Profit from parking fees will aid in the maintenance of the parking lot and walkways to ensure the safety of all clients, visitors, and staff. The parking lot is for use by the Community Health Centre and the fee will also help prevent users of other facilities taking up valuable parking spaces intended for our patrons.

Please contact us at AskUs@ccckl.ca or call us at 705-324-7323 with any questions regarding this new parking fee.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we roll out this new system.

Hospice Services Partnership

crocus_on_ground.jpg

Navigating the waves of grief is not easy. Healing from the pain of loss when a loved one chooses a medically assisted death adds a unique dimension and experience to the grief journey. Community Care Hospice Services recently partnered with Bridge C-14, a National organization committed to walking alongside clients and their partners during all steps of the MAiD process (Medical Assistance in Dying).

Two Hospice team members were invited to join the evening grief groups, which supported clients in Canada from coast to coast. The skills around supporting grievers virtually have proven to be transferrable to our programs and a Virtual Grief Chat for our clients has grown out of this partnership.

It is the hope that Hospice Services, in partnership with Bridge C-14, will be able to offer in-person support in the future to family members who have supported a loved one through the MAiD process.

Spreading Holiday Cheer

For the second year, the CHC team came together and helped pack Salvation Army Christmas food hampers. On December 13th, many of the team members took time to attend the church with other volunteers to pack over 500 food hampers.

The Salvation Army is a vital support in our community and support so many people throughout the year. Thank you to everyone that helped out over the holidays! Your caring compassion makes a difference in our community.

Special Holiday Gifts for our PSS Clients

Every holiday season our CHC Clinical Wellness Groups and Personal Support Services team comes together to donate items to older adults in our community that are on their own for Christmas. Our Social Workers and Personal Support Worker team delivered gifts to these individuals over the holidays, which had a meaningful impact for our clients.

One client opened her gifts Christmas day with PSS staff. This made her day, as she had no other visitors for Christmas. Another recipient was in hospital but our scheduling team took time to deliver it to her. She was ecstatic!

Another client was grateful to receive gifts that our team knew he needed and he left one item to open Christmas morning. He wanted to thank everybody at Community Care for making him feel special during the holidays.

Together our CHC Clinical Wellness groups and Community Care PSWs were able to add a little extra holiday cheer to a few individuals that would be alone or in hospital for Christmas – a true feeling of the season!

What is your favourite part about working for CCCKL?

Every day, I'm continually inspired by the positive impact we have of the lives of people throughout the entire City of Kawartha Lakes. When I see CCCKL vans during my commute to work, it serves as a powerful reminder of the vast impact of our work and the wide-ranging services we provide.

What hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?

I'm absolutely smitten with my role as a grandma, and I tackle winter sports with the gusto of a professional (amateur, mind you). I also relish the charms of my close-knit communities of Coboconk and Norland and stay immersed in all the activities and awesome projects they have to offer.
