A Grand Opening for our Community Health Centre

Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate the grand opening of our new Community Health Centre on March 1st. This marked a momentous day in CCCKL’s history and celebrated a project more than a decade in the making.

Our CEO Ryan Alexander shared the journey that led up to opening the doors of the new Community Health Centre. He paid tribute to the previous Community Care CEOs, Valmay Barkey, Cathy Danbrook and Barb Mildon, who all contributed to the vision, planning and construction of the new CHC.

We were also joined by MPP Laurie Scott, who shared her reflections on how the new Community Health Centre will benefit the health and well-being needs of residents of Kawartha Lakes.

Community Care’s Board Chair, Dr. Julie Johnson, spoke to the impact this new building has for our community and highlighted that the CHC is a place where individuals and families can access high-quality primary care, dental care, geriatric care, and wellness programming.

Community Care’s Foundation Board Chair, Sheryl Benson, also recognized CCCKL’s appreciation for the investment from the provincial government for funding the vast majority of the $15 million facility. She also recognized generosity of the donors that supported the Capital Campaign, which helped to raise over $400,000.

An official ribbon cutting ceremony at the front doors officially marked the opening of the Community Health Centre. The grand opening ceremony finished with guided tours around the facility to show attendees how this space serves the health and well-being needs of the community.

The new purpose built facility, located at 21 Angeline St. N. in Lindsay, is home to Community Care’s clinical services such as the primary care clinic, dental clinic, and Geriatric Assessment and Intervention Network (GAIN) team. The space also supports a variety of CCCKL’s wellness programs, such as Community Based Exercise Classes, cooking classes and the Good Food Box program.

Adjustment to Client Fees

Clients of our fee for service programs should have received a letter from Community Care this month announcing some changes to our program fees. In order to continue delivering the level of excellence you deserve, we occasionally need to adjust our prices to account for factors such as rising operational costs and enhancements in service quality. As a reminder, we are implementing a price adjustment to some of our fees effective April 1, 2024.

While we understand that any price change may create challenges, please rest assured that this decision was made after thorough evaluation to ensure that we can continue to meet and exceed your expectations. Please see our current price listing for changes to program fees.

Advance Care Planning Day

Coming up on April 16th is Advance Care Planning Day! The days acts as a reminder to reflect on your healthcare preferences and take action.

As we journey through life, it's essential to consider our future healthcare needs. Advance care planning allows us to make decisions now about the healthcare we would want in the future if we're unable to speak for ourselves. Have you thought about who you would trust to make important healthcare decisions on your behalf? Whether it's a family member, a friend, or a trusted advisor, it's crucial to designate someone who understands your values and wishes.

You have the power to choose who advocates for you in times of need. Take the opportunity to discuss your preferences with your loved ones and document your wishes.
