Wellness Programs

Riverwalk is Back

Riverwalk is a grief walk designed for participants to engage with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Participants are invited to deal with the reality of life changes while taking a walk in our community. This program offers a secure and caring space to express and work through your emotions and thoughts related to grief.

Conversations flow easily, tears are shed, challenges and frustrations are shared, suggestions offered. It is 45 minutes where participants are really heard. There is no need for participants to ‘put on a brave face’ or pretend they are doing better than they are, because the volunteers and other participants know that the grief journey is long and hard.

The Riverwalk takes place on Tuesdays from 9:30 - 10:30am and starts at Hospice Services, located at 2 Kent St W in Lindsay. The walks are free of charge and no pre-registration is required. Call 705-879-4123 ext. 553 to learn more.

All Program Day at the Adult Day Program

This month we joined together our clients and caregivers from our Adult Day Program sites for a group day of programming. The event was held at Jennings Creek Christian Reformed church in Lindsay and included lots of fun and entertainment for the attendees. The day included entertainment from Dig the Moon, a musical drumming session by clients, and crafts for Mother’s Day. We also had a Cognitive theme for the day, which was the history of the Tea Act.

Thank you to all our clients, caregivers and performers for coming together and making it such a wonderful day!

Community Care Foundation Update

Welcome to this update from the Community Care Foundation. Our Mission is to help to build healthy communities across Kawartha Lakes by raising funds to support Community Care's range of services.

The Foundation is amazed with the turnout of our first in person Hike for Hospice since 2019! Community Care Foundation’s Hike for Hospice took place this year on May 7th at Auk’s Lodge Fleming College in Lindsay. Participants walked 5K along the Trans Canada Trail to raise funds for Hospice Services with teammates and friends.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are overjoyed to announce that we have raised over $30,000 for Hospice Services!

We are so thankful for all of the generosity and help from our staff, participants and volunteers. A special thank you to all of our donors and to our sponsors this year:

Economy Wheels

Lakeland Funeral Home

Kawartha Dairy

Lett Architects

Remedy’sRx

Your willingness to donate your time and raise funds for Hospice services is truly inspiring and further emphasizes that we are a community that cares deeply for one another. Because of your generosity, we can continue to provide Hospice services to those experiencing loss, illness and grief. On behalf of all of us here at Community Care and Hospice Services, we thank all those who participated and/or donated to The Hike for Hospice! We cannot wait to see what next year’s Hike for Hospice brings!
