'Tis the Season

November/December 2018
Giving Tuesday is November 27th!

After all the shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes a breath of fresh air - Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. Please consider a donation to Family Promise on this day, which helps us continue our programs providing shelter and support to homeless working families. Thank you for your support!
A letter from the President

At our recent Gala, I said that Family Promise's mission has evolved into far more than simply providing a family with a roof over their heads, because it's not just about housing - it's about poverty. So we are addressing the poverty issue and the many causes that lead to a family becoming homeless.

Bob Ambruster - A Lasting Legacy

We lost a special man and a very dear friend in a tragic pedestrian accident on September 23rd. Bob Armbruster was hit by a truck while crossing the street near his home in Bergenfield...

Help when help is needed

Every family that comes to Family Promise is different. Some families move on more quickly than others. In October, we had such a family.
Shantel and Fernando* and their six children were displaced from their apartment...
Camper pays homage to Camp Lots-of-Fun

If you were unable to attend this year's Gala, you missed hearing former camper, Jaden Pina, describe what attending Camp Lots-of-Fun meant to him.

Update on ALICE

The latest update to the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) study reports that 38.5% of NJ households struggle to afford basic needs such as housing, health care, transportation, and childcare.  The data, measured from 2012-2016, shows that the bare-minimum Survival Budget increased by as much as 28% per family during that period.

A great night at the Gala

Oh, what a night! Thank you to everyone who supported the  Family Promise Gala , which was held on October 10, 2018, at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes. It was a tremendous success, with a sold-out crowd of volunteers, sponsors, and friends!

We look maaavelous!

Special thanks to volunteers Roberta Knauer, Beth Damis, and Larry Schwartz for their part in creating our new website.  The project took many hours and was enhanced by their involvement. If you haven't had a chance to visit our new website, click here and take a look.
