Spring is Coming: Hikers Get Ready!
March/April 2020
Letter from Kate

In response to the rising incidence of family homelessness, the Administration of Children and Families sponsored a series of listening sessions this past spring that Paul Shackford and I were invited to attend. The goal of these sessions was to gather information from those working "on the ground" to examine the realities and challenges homeless families are experiencing.
A worthy mission

At a recent Board Meeting, it was determined that it was time to revisit our Mission and Vision statements to ensure that they clearly and accurately reflect the work we are doing with homeless working families.

Hike for hope registration is open!

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon on Sunday, May 17, as we  Hike for Hope   for Family Promise! Our 3-mile walk begins and ends at Van Neste Square in the heart of Ridgewood with music, food, games, giveaways, and more! All ages are welcome, so gather your family and friends, form a team, and come on out! Funds raised will provide temporary housing and personalized support to help empower homeless working families to become self-sufficient-and give them hope for a brighter future. Register here today!
Two Family Promise Network Families Share Success

I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Nathaly C., a former resident of the Family Promise Network. I had heard that Nathaly had started her own business and wanted to learn more about it. But I actually ended up learning about a special mindset and a spirit of cooperation shared between two families from our program.

Family Promise launches new Transportation Fund

Lack of reliable transportation is often an obstacle for our families as they work to get back on their feet. In response to this, we have created a new Family Promise Transportation Fund! These funds will be used specifically for transportation needs on a case-by-case basis.

Volunteer Denyse DelDotto digitizes
Walk-In dinner

When Denyse DelDotto started volunteering at Family Promise in 2011, the organization was still coordinating its nightly Walk-in Dinner for the homeless, much as it had in the previous century. This struck Denyse, who'd just retired after working for years as a Montvale public school office administrator, as too quaint and too expensive.
