Hello Parents!

I hope this message finds you all doing well. In an effort to increase communication with the students and parents, the leadership team has determined that it would be highly beneficial for all parents of 7 th and 8 th grade students to receive weekly homework charts. You should expect to receive these charts every Tuesday morning, beginning February 4th.

The expectation is that all students continue to write their homework down, daily, in their planners. The homework charts are a general outline of what the teacher is going to be covering for the week, along with the homework that is expected to be assigned. The charts are subject to change should a teacher be absent or a class gets interrupted for any reason, which is why the practice of writing homework in the planner is expected for the students.

For our high school students, we will be creating a “Homework Board” in the lobby of the academic building. The charts will be updated weekly on the board and the students will be able to see what is happening in their classes for the week, as well as their expected homework. This will also be a useful tool for all students should they be absent and need to know what they missed.

Our hope is that this will help facilitate more communication between school and home. As the charts start being sent, please be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher with questions.

Once again the ENVISION summer programs run by the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) will abe available to NPX high school students. NYLF offers a host of residential summer programs for high school students (9-11). Their website is https://www.envisionexperience.com  and a complete list of their programs can be found at  https://www.envisionexperience.com/program-catalog

North Phoenix Prep neither endorses nor recommends this program. Some of our students have attended NYLF programs and the feedback we have received from them is very positive. These for-profit NYLF programs are typical of many fee-based summer experiences available to high school students.

Here is a website that discusses pros and cons of the NYLF programs:  https://www.collegeprepresults.com/national-youth-leadership-forum-programs-worth/

If your child is interested in applying to one of the NYLF programs, Dr. Cort can nominate them. You must send Dr. Cort an email ( gcort@northphoenixprep.org ) with your child’s
  • Name
  • Complete home mailing address (NOT email address)
  • Current grade (2019/2020 academic year — 9 to 11)
  • Gender

As parent/guardian, you must also send an explicit statement authorizing North Phoenix Prep to release the above personal information regarding your child to NYLF. Without this statement, Dr. Cort will not submit the nomination.

The deadline for Dr. Cort to receive this information is February 5.

Alternatively, if you would like to investigate other summer programs, here is a great place to start:  https://www.collegetransitions.com/top-summer-programs-for-high-school-students/ . Again, this is link for informational purposes only: North Phoenix Prep neither endorses nor recommends any of these programs.

With cold and flu season well underway, the nurse's office has very important information to share. Please click below and read thoroughly
