Ramos Report: Latest News From Team Odette
We mourn the passing of Congressman Cummings

We woke up to devastating news for Baltimore and our nation today. Team Odette mourns the lost of Congressman Elijah Cummings, our stalwart congressman. He was a man of high integrity and passion for our Democracy. This is Odette's statement:

"The loss of such a great leader is devastating. I had the honor of introducing him at several anti-45 rallies these past few years in my role with Baltimore Women United. Being in his presence as he spoke was humbling and inspiring. Rest in power Congressman. Our family mourns with Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings   and their family. A nation mourns. The Congressman has always reminded us to keep going. To fight to the last breath. We will, in your memory."

The Water Bills
How to get assistance
New legislation reaches second reader

The water bills are the first thing neighbors mention when we're at the doors. The Department of Public Works has a program called H20 Assist to help people afford their water bills. More information and how to apply is here . DPW reports they have only helped eight people, we must demand that help comes to everyone who applies. Additionally, the City Council is poised to pass legislation to place water bills on a sliding scale based on income. More information is here . Even though we have these important developments to help pay for water, there is much more that has to be done, including considering a new billing system, and working with County partners to ensure they pay their fair share.
New Office of the Inspector General releases Annual Report

In 2018, voters approved a ballot issue to create the Office of the Inspector General whose mission is to investigate reports of misconduct by city employees and contractors. Isabel Mercedes Cumming and her team have been hard at work and so far have uncovered over $1.4 million in savings or waste so far. They operate based on complaints, which are about 70 per month now.
