New Light Rescue Vehicle

It was an exciting day in Erin when our Fire and Emergency Services received two new light rescue vehicles! Safety of our taxpayers is always a priority and the primary role for these new light rescue vehicles will be to respond to medical first response incidents! At present, 60 per cent of our calls are medical related and this lighter/less expensive vehicle will reduce the wear and tear from our heavy rescue trucks providing value for the tax dollars invested in the Fire and Emergency Services.

Please remember to pull over when you see or hear these trucks on their way. Also, when you see a vehicle with flashing Green lights - please give way as they are our volunteer firefighters making their way to respond to an emergency call.

NEW!!! Commemorative Stamps

The Town of Erin's Let's Get Hillsburgh Growing Committee, in conjunction with Canada Post, has released the official 200th Anniversary commemorative “Hillsburgh” stamp.

Just in time for the holidays, these stamps are the perfect way to both support and celebrate our wonderful community. Designed with the distinctive maple leaf Hillsburgh sign we have all come to recognize when driving through our beautiful town, these stamps will bring a little joy to anyone who receives them.

At just $15.00 per book (cash only), they are a very affordable way to spread a little Hillsburgh love this holiday.

Available at QuickPick Convenience and Video, 99 Trafalgar Rd, downtown Hillsburgh, this booklet of 12 “Hillsburgh” Canadian Post domestic mail stamps can be used for regular mail, sending holiday cards, keep as a souvenir, or give to a current or former resident as a gift.

Winter Safety

As the weather gets colder, and snow begins to fall, remember to practice snow safety. Our Roads staff make an effort each winter to ensure that Town roads are adequately cleaned to provide safe travel . As a reminder we ask for your patience this season, when following behind trucks and snowplows with flashing blue lights. These vehicles are performing winter maintenance, so please give them room to work and proceed with caution.

Please note that during winter months (November 1 – March 31) the Town of Erin By-Law restricts parking on any Town of Erin road between 2 am and 6 am. Residents are encouraged to keep their cars off the road during these times, and sidewalks cleared and salted.

Meet the Winners!

We’d like to thank and congratulate our two Halloween Contest winners. With many amazing submissions entered for the Pumpkin Carving and Halloween Costume contest, we had a difficult time selecting just one. Under careful review, we considered creativity, theme and overall execution.
