Pathways to Permanency: Fostering NC Trauma and Development Guide Training

The Pathways to Permanency project coordinates efforts by Vaya, local Department of Social Services (DSS) offices, and mental health providers to ensure youth in foster care have access to quality behavioral health services.

Vaya and the Pathways to Permanency project will offer three webinars to review a new companion guide for the FosteringNC Trauma and Development series, a self-paced, online training. The guide helps facilitators equip caregivers and others with knowledge and tools to better understand and manage complex, trauma-related behaviors and emotions. Participants gain access to the guide after the training.

Webinars will include lessons learned from public and private agencies that piloted the guide with their resource families. Register online for one of the options below:

  • Oct. 2, 2023, 9-9:45 a.m.
  • Oct. 4, 2023, 10-10:45 a.m.

Child Welfare 101 Training

Vaya will host a virtual Child Welfare 101 training co-facilitated with child welfare professionals from local DSS offices. Developed by the Pathways to Permanency project, the training helps participants learn about and develop a shared understanding of the goals and key components of the state’s child welfare system. Topics include coordination with county child welfare professionals and Vaya’s embedded care managers, how to incorporate the Circle of Care (Child and Family Teams and System of Care philosophy), and resources for youth “aging out” of foster care.
