Giving Hope and Time
Dear Friends:

It has been a long winter season and hopefully we will soon feel some spring weather before summer is here. I love spring! The blooming of the flowers reminds me of hope, and I feel it is mother nature telling us to smile and enjoy its beauty.

We continue to proudly deliver our mission here at Lazarex. The demand for our services continues to grow and so does the need for funds! We had a successful and beautiful event in April; our 2nd Annual IMPACT 5.44K event had 213 participants here in Danville and in other parts of the US, including 25 four legged participants that wore cute bandanas. We had a net revenue of a little over $25,000 and our audacious goal was $40,000. We increased the revenue by 39% in comparison to last year’s 5.44K, which is great, but not enough.

So dear friends of Lazarex here is my appeal to you: if you did not participate on the 5.44K this year and still want to support it, please make a donation on our website ( https://lazarex544k.flipcause.com/). Cancer is an expensive disease and supporting cancer patients is a big task, however all 40% of our patients need is a tank of gas to get to their clinical trial appointment and with $54.00 (registration price for 5.44K) you can make that happen!

With deepest gratitude,
Vera
Angelo Lagonia

Angelo, a Very Important Patient (VIP)

In November 2018 Angelo (pictured right with his son) was accepted into a clinical trial at MD Anderson but had to return to Houston once every week and twice every other week. Those trips were rapidly exhausting his savings. Angelo is 69 years old and he and his wife live on their Social Security.

In Angelo's words:

In January 2019 I was informed about Lazarex Cancer Foundation and was fortunate to be accepted. The assistance made my trips (every 21 days) to MD Anderson in Houston, from our home in North Georgia for my chemo immunotherapy infusion possible, and without the stress of figuring out how we can afford the treatments. I am happy to say that my January and March MRI’s have shown that my tumor has not grown.

I want to offer my most sincere gratitude to all of you at the Lazarex Cancer Foundation for what you do for me and other cancer patients. You have no idea how much your assistance means to my wife and me.

10 Years at Lazarex Cancer Foundation
by Karen Ambrogi
I recently celebrated my 10 year anniversary of working at Lazarex Cancer Foundation. I've been the Communications Manager for over 8 of those years. I came to Lazarex when I moved to California to reset my life. My marriage was ending and I was done, done, done with corporate world. My sister Dana was running this foundation, then it its 3rd year of existence. I was happy to help in any capacity. Cancer has been an unwelcome guest in my family and the lives of my loved ones many more times than I care to count. I love my job and my work mates, many of whom are "long timers" here. We work hard, we give a lot of love and we get a lot back. Its a great gig.
