From July 27th to July 31st Hospice Vaughan hosted our annual Summer Kids Camp...with a twist! The program was altered to keep the safety of the children and their families a top priority during COVID-19 and featured a take-home camp in a box. The Kids Summer Camp In a Box was part of our children's HUGS program (help us understand grief) and was open to children dealing with the loss or illness of a loved one, over 25 campers and families participated! The campers received an activity package for each day that week, featuring a new, fun and exciting activity each day! Activities ranged from arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, story sharing with snacks and much more! The goal of the camp was to help children work through change and manage their grief and emotions while promoting mental health, compassionate care and kindness.
