Parent /Teacher Conferences
Scheduling starts on September 24th
The annual Teacher Conferences are on October 8, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. These short, five-minute, virtual meetings provide an opportunity to meet with each student’s teachers and/or counselor to become better informed about student progress – giving parents/guardians a chance to become partners in their student’s success in school.

National Merit Recognition
Over 1.5 millions juniors in about 21,000 high schools across the country entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Semifinalists are the highest-scoring program entrants in each state and represent the top 0.5 percent of the state's senior students, while Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers.

This year two Maine East students have been designated as Semifinalists, and four have been recognized as Commended Students. We congratulate all of these students on what is truly an outstanding academic achievement!
National Merit Semifinalists:
Isabella and Nicole Piekut
National Merit Commended Students: Ashutosh Kumar, Michelle Polak,
Hadi Rihawi and Khayla Santiago.
ISBE Recognizes Ms. Kate Lee
Maine East Director of Choirs Kate Lee has only been at Maine East since the fall of 2018 but during that short amount of time she has had a major impact at the school. Her influence was recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education today when she was named the 2021Outstanding Early Career Educator. Kate is one of just five teachers in the state to earn state-wide recognition from ISBE.

Habitat for Humanity
From January to March of 2020, students in Mr. Tom Kaiser's Geo Construction class constructed wall sections for a home to be used by Habitat for Humanity. However, when COVID-19 restrictions closed the school, the walls could not be delivered.

On September 23rd, students and staff were finally able to load up and move the wall sections. This is the second home built by students this year. It is in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley and will year will be constructed in Batavia. Habitat for Humanity volunteers then assembled the wall sections on site.

A special thanks to Tony Lundin, owner of Lin-Mar, who has been providing the transportation service for years. Despite the time, cost of gas and miles on their vehicles, he does not charge the school or Habitat for Humanity.
A Message of Thanks
Cheerleaders share the love
A VERY big thank you to the Maine East cheerleaders who wrote messages of hope, inspiration and positivity on the parking lots to share how much they appreciate the teachers, staff and administrators!
