Volunteer of the Year Award - Parent Nominations

We are looking to acknowledge one of our amazing volunteers. If you are or know of a parent who has dedicated themselves to Leigh as a volunteer, please consider nominating them for our Volunteer of the Year award. Spring Sports Season is here

Come on out and support your Leigh athletes at upcoming games. Game and match schedules can be found on the Leigh Athletics website.

The team is off to a strong 11-2 start. They are busy with three matches this week. The team will wrap the regular season up next week with a home match against Westmont on April 26th at 4:00, which will also be Senior Night.

The boys have started their season 9-8, 3-3 in Mount Hamilton League play. They were recently ranked 15th in the CCS by Prep2Prep Sports The team's game against Pioneer was featured on the April 1st Cal-Hi Sports Show  (at the 18:10 mark)

The girls are off to a 3-2 start in Santa Teresa League play, with a 4-8 record overall going into the second half of the season under the team's new Head Coach (and Leigh parent) Tammy Klauser.

Boys' Tennis
The team is in it's final week of league play, with a record of 2-10.  Seniors will be celebrated and honored at Senior Day this Wednesday, April 18th, when the team takes on Pioneer at a home match starting at 3:15pm  

Boys' Golf 
The team has a record of 4-3 with four matches left in the season before BVAL and CCS tournament play.

Swimming & Diving
The swim and dive teams have their final league meet this week before heading into the BVAL Trials and Finals next Friday and Saturday. The Varsity teams have records of 4-2 for the boys and 2-4 for the girls. So far, all three Varsity swim relays (both boys and girls) have qualified for CCS, and Jayden Hernandez and Rachel Hyuhn have qualified in individual swim events.  Veronica Shlyapniova of the Dive team has qualified for the CCS meet with the second best score ever recorded here at Leigh.

Boys' Volleyball
The team is currently undefeated and in 1st place in Mount Hamilton League play with a record of 7-0 (20-5 overall). The team's game against Leland was featured on  Cal-Hi Sports  on April 1st (at the 14:19 mark) 

Track & Field
The boys and girls Varsity teams are both 0-2 in meet competitions, but there have been strong individual performances that are currently in the Top 5 in the CCS from Nathan Viskovich, Kyler Spindola, Tevita Pahulu, Nathan Yoder, and Hawa Kamara (Hawa is currently holding the top CCS time in the 400 Meters). 


BVAL All League Honors - Fall Sports

At the end of each high school sport's season, the coaches from every team in the league get together to determine the athletes that deserve All League recognition for their outstanding seasons. It is a great honor and Leigh Sports Boosters wants to congratulate all of the Leigh athletes chosen for the Winter season:

Winter Updates - Leigh Grads Competing at the Collegiate & National Level

Hayley O'Brien completed her first year swimming for UC Davis in the distance freestyle events. She is studying Biological Sciences while competing for the Aggies.

Ben Fritz had a successful freshman season swimming at Willamette University. At the final meet of the season, the NWC Championships, Ben achieved a school record time of 16:30.97 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. The previous Willamette record of 16:40.34 was set in 1987, thirty years ago! Congratulations Ben!

Aleks Melbardis started in 87 of the 101 games for the Stevenson University volleyball team and the Mustangs have secured a spot in the upcoming NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship by winning the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Tournament 

Markus Melbardis is in his third year playing volleyball for the Loyola University Chicago who are currently ranked 8th in the country going into the final weeks of the season.

Also playing at the NCAA level for volleyball are Ben Van Der Luit at Concordia Irvine who are currently ranked 13th in the country and Quinn Barrett at UC Santa Cruz where the team finished the season ranked #10 in NCAA Division III Volleyball.

Two 2015 Leigh graduates are now playing NCAA baseball after spending two years playing at the community college level. Drew Reveno is pitching for Saint Louis University and Connor Barrett is pitching for the Point Loma Nazarene. Congratulations and good luck with your seasons!

Annie and Kerry Xu won a bronze medal in Women's Doubles Badminton at the 2017 World University Games (WUG) in Taipei, Taiwan. The twins compete for Team USA Badminton.  WUG is commonly referred to as the "College Olympics" and it brings together college students from around the world to compete every other year. There were over 10,000 athletes from 120+ countries competing in 22 sports at the event this year. Congratulations Annie and Kerry!
