Highland Park Neighbors,
I had a conversation with a friend this week and realized that I felt prepared to stay at home because I had already experienced something similar during both of my deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. On my first deployment, I was a young soldier and celebrated my 21st Birthday in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During my second deployment, when we arrived at our location the very first thing the other unit on site asked us for was
toilet paper,
the second was
water
, and the third was
food
. Everyone might be prepared in different ways through their own experiences, but I know that may not be the case for some of you and I want you to know that you are not alone. Staying at home can be very difficult, but at this time, it is what the moment requires in order to save lives..
We had our first three confirmed cases of coronavirus this week in Highland Park. (Please

Thus, the County has provided a Hotline for those that are feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed that you can reach by calling 800-854-7771 or texting “LA” to 741741.
