Another opportunity
to help our Interfaith Shelter Guests
Have you ever passed a homeless person on the street and wished that you could give them something that would really help? Maybe a coat, a pair of boots, a hoodie? Now you can. As you know, Grace hosted the Heights Interfaith Shelter for six weeks in October and November, and many members of our community helped us to extend warm hospitality by bringing a hot meal for our twelve guests or staying overnight. Now we have an additional opportunity to help these homeless men. CAMBA has collected requests from the homeless men and women that they serve, and a link to the list is below.

Many of the men and women ask for boots, and indicate their size. Coats and hoodies are also on the list. CAMBA also requests thermal underwear, jackets, and hoodies of any size, because often, the homeless arrive at The Gathering Place with nothing more than the shirts on their backs.

Here is the link . Items can be dropped off at Grace between now and Valentine's Day, February 14. Thank you for joining us in this important ministry to our neediest neighbors!
First Aid and Defibrillator Training -
10:15 am on Sunday, February 24
As many of you may have noticed, we now have a first aid kit and AED equipment across from the ADA bathroom and another AED Kit in the North Room. The Grace Church School also has a Kit outside of their office space above the Gym.

Dr. Bryan McCarty has graciously agreed to do some training on this equipment for Sunday, February 24 at 10:15 in the North Room . If you are interested in receiving training, please sign up at the back of the Church starting this Sunday.

A Special Message from the Rector
The Vinton Society was established in 2010, to recognize parishioners for their long and outstanding service to Grace Church. Last Sunday, the 2019 Vinton Society award was bestowed on Barbara Becker, for her many contributions to the life of this Church. A parishioner of Grace for over 35 years, Barbara has been a member of the choir for 28 of those years. A long-time volunteer with the East Brooklyn Congregations program, Barbara has mentored high school students in essential life skills. She has been a central organizer and dedicated worker at many, many WinterFairs, Spring Galas and Silent Auctions. Barbara has also been a participant in many improvements to our interior spaces and, perhaps most significantly, helped plan and supervise the restoration of the Sanctuary. We are grateful for her tireless work as Co-Chair of the Search Committee. A member of the Vestry for six years, Barbara is now returning to serve as Clerk. The community of Grace is stronger and more beautiful for Barbara’s life with us. I am proud to bestow on Barbara Becker the 2019 Vinton Society award.

This publication could help us get to know each other better and engage in dialogue. Hope you will consider this format. If interested please contact Charlotte Thorp.

Rector's Tuesday Bible Study
Please know that you are invited to join us each Tuesday, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm in the Choir Room, for bible study and conversations around interpretation, application, social justice, current world events or a host of other topics that may surface during our time together. We really do have a lot of fun and we invite you to come and join us!

Right now, we are studying the Gospel of John. Each class is independent of others; therefore, you do not have to play “catch up” in order to participate. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me! Allen+.
