A message from our new Director of Alumni Relations |
Trojan for Life. Not sure I always took that so seriously as a high school student worried about my next history test, cross country meet, or how I was ever going to pull off my Schoolbelles look, but looking back, it has held true throughout my life.
BCHS was there when I graduated college in 2010, not sure where I wanted to be or what I wanted to do. I got hired for a temporary position that turned into three years of finding my footing post-graduation. I created an incredible support system and cheerleading squad that encouraged me to spread my wings and try out a job at the NCAA that scared and challenged me.
I look around me today and realize that being a BCHS grad has enriched my life in so many ways, even if I didn’t always feel it at the time. Some of my best friends to this day are friends I met freshman year of high school running the dreaded mile for volleyball summer conditioning. My husband graduated in ’04 and I am not sure we would have met had a high school friend not introduced us.
Being a BCHS alum is life long and the bonds we create and connections we make carry us through this life. That is why I am so excited to come back as the Director of Alumni Relations. I hope to help facilitate those connections with old friends and new, and to remind all BCHS alumni that when they enter the world post-graduation BCHS has their back and is always a place they can come home to. Because when you are a Trojan, you are a Trojan for Life.

Tuesday, September 7, BCHS boys soccer will take on University High School. Former Bishop Chatard players will play during halftime of the varsity match. The JV game starts at 6 p.m. followed by varsity at 7:30 p.m. Please contact head coach Mike Carney [email protected] with any questions.

Support MD families at "The Feud Before the Feud" |
Bishop Chatard and Cathedral High Schools are coming together for a community cause in support of families dealing with Muscular Dystrophy. "The Feud Before the Feud" will take place on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 6-9:30 p.m., at the Northside Events & Social Club (the former Knights of Columbus). Join Our Prayer Warriors to End Gun Violence |
One year ago, on August 12, Jack Shockley, Bishop Chatard Class of 2014, was murdered by a man with a gun. Indianapolis suffers from some of the highest rates of gun violence in the country, and it has grown worse over the past year. In solidarity with faith communities across our city, the Jack Shockley Warriors for Peace, www.warriors4peace.org, invite the Bishop Chatard community to join in a season of fasting and prayer to end gun violence.
For seven weeks that began on August 12, Jack’s Heavenly birthday, those in our community have been praying for the Shockley family and an end to the violence in our city. We invite you to join in and fast from food, drink or something substantial and offer it as a prayer, for 24 hours (Thursday, 12 p.m. – Friday, 12 p.m.), every Thursday/Friday. We are praying/fasting with faith communities closest to the worst of gun violence in our city.

Congratulations to Sarah (DeNardin) Olvey, D.O., BCHS Class of 2009, on her new position as full time pediatrician with St. Vincent at a clinic in Carmel. She is taking new patients, and would love to see the kiddos of other BCHS alumni if they are in search of a doctor or potentially expecting a baby soon! On August 2, Anna Hoefer, BCHS Class of 2005, made her final vows as a Sister of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in Mishawaka, Indiana. We rejoice in her journey!
