An Exciting New Year Begins
Dear Colby Families,

Whether your student is just beginning at Colby or planning for the future beyond our campus, the start of the academic year always brings a sense of possibility and joy to our entire community.

I welcome the opportunity for you to be engaged with and connected to our community through this newsletter. Throughout the academic year, it will share news from Colby; offer reminders about parent and family events, programs, and key deadlines; and deliver personal messages from Colby leadership.

My staff and I are committed to connecting our students with the people, resources, and opportunities they require to ensure their success. We also want to make certain you remain confident in our support and care for them.

This is a journey I welcome. I look forward to working with your student, meeting you on campus or perhaps at an organized Colby event in your city, or cheering with you at Homecoming. Thank you for being such an integral part of this special Colby community.

With gratitude,
Karlene A. Burrell-McRae '94

  • Almost one-third are students of color
  • 11 percent are non-U.S. citizens
  • 13 percent are the first person in their family to attend college
  • 17 percent qualify for a federal Pell Grant
  • Top states represented: California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas
Last spring 10 students filmed their lives at Colby over the course of one week, from late-night study sessions to athletic practices, Frisbee on the lawn, and meals in the dining hall. If you want to know what Colby really looks like, see it through the eyes of our students by watching our new video, Inside Colby.
Using a model often implemented by professional sports teams, as well as U.S. Olympic and national teams, Colby has launched a new partnership with MaineGeneral Medical Center to provide healthcare, health education, and preventative services through Colby's athletic trainers and MaineGeneral doctors, who will serve as team physicians.
A collaboration between  DavisConnects , which facilitates research, internship, and global experiences for all Colby students, and  Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream   turned students into real-life marketing consultants for the iconic Maine brand.
