Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Morning Prayer Change of Schedule

Due to complications with clergy schedules, Morning Prayer for the next three weeks will be on Wednesdays at 9:00 am, rather than Thursdays. This change starts tomorrow, March 18, at 9:00 am.  Come join us!

One More Fundraiser?  Orders Taken through Friday

We are trying very hard to at least cover the basic costs of Grace School--teacher salaries and materials--with tuition and fundraising.  To that end, one more fundraiser.  Little Lambs provides more than cookie dough and cheesecake.  They have promised us the best gourmet popcorn ever!  They call this program "Look What's Poppin!"  The popcorn is "Healthy, Air Popped, and Trans Fat Free," and comes in thirteen different flavors!  Orders can be placed the next two Sundays, and half the proceeds go for the support of Grace kindergarten and pre-school.

By the way, registrations for Grace School for the 2015-16 school are well underway and ahead of last year.  Grace School is one of our treasures and one of Hopkinsville's treasures.  Let's provide support in a big way!

Movie Night Tonight!

At 6:30 tonight, we will all have the opportunity to view a Bill Moyers' production--"Still/Here."  Please join us for this inspiring documentary featuring dancer and choreographer, Bill T. Jones and his dance troupe--presenting the dance he created after working with several groups of terminally ill "survivors" who agreed to participate in workshops designed to facilitate their expressing their deepest thoughts and feelings about facing their mortality--a subject apropos for Lenten reflection.  (In Gaither Room)

Guest Preacher March 22

Some months back, the Rector was contacted by Chris King who lives in Nashville but is Executive Director of the Amistad Mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia.  Chris spends most of his time and energy doing development and fund-raising for Amistad and has great passion for his work and the work this mission has been doing with orphaned children in Bolivia for over 25 years. Chris' passion began as a teenager when he began traveling to Bolivia on pilgrimage with his church youth group.  For more information on Amistad, go to  Maybe we will start planning our own pilgrimage.  Who knows?

United Thank Offering

One of the traditional observances of Lent is the giving of alms for meeting the needs of others.  The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a long-established program of the Episcopal Church which raises money through fund drives associated with acknowledging our gratitude for all the many blessings of our lives--and using this money to fund grant applications for church social service programs worldwide.  Given that we are establishing a new social service program through Grace Church, it seems appropriate that we should again become involved in this worthwhile effort.  The way UTO works is that "blue boxes" are available to pick up at church and take home to fill with coins--or bills (!)--whenever we are aware of experiencing that amazingly joyful feeling of gratitude.  We will have an in-gathering of blue boxes at Easter.  Please give generously.  (We may be applying for a grant for GraceWorks at some point!)

Aaron McNeil House Food Donation

Since March is a month with five Sundays, we are having a food ingathering for AMH.  Please bring your non-perishable food donations on March 29 or earlier.  Donations of peanut butter and canned meats are always in demand.  Thank you!

Celebrating Easter

We are approaching our "highest holy day" of the church year.  I (Alice) hope we have all been observing the season of Lent in our own individual ways in preparation for Easter.  As Holy Week nears, please consider putting all of our services on your schedule--the Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday; Maundy Thursday with Agape Meal, foot-washing, stripping of the altar; Good Friday liturgy; and Easter Day itself.  And, Easter doesn't end there. The church observes the Great Fifty Days of Easter, ending at Pentecost on May 24--filled with many Alleluias and no confessions.  Plenty of time for taking in what it all means.  Come celebrate with us.  Blessings!

Have you remembered Grace Church in your will?

We are working on starting a legacy society for Grace which will be called the George P. Giddinge Society--named for the first Rector at this church--as a step toward securing the future of our parish, especially our wonderful buildings and grounds.  All who include the church in their wills will automatically become members of this honorary group and names will be placed on a permanent plaque, probably in the narthex.  If you have already made this important decision and taken the steps necessary to insure that your wishes are carried out, please make our Treasurer, Bill Nichol, aware.  Thank you so much for your loving dedication to Grace Church, for all it has meant to so many people and for all that our ministry can continue to mean to the City of Hopkinsville.
