| | Honoring fallen Gwinnett Police Officer Pradeep Tamang, Badge #2741 | | |
Gwinnett County is mourning the loss of Gwinnett County Police Officer Pradeep Tamang, who was killed in the line of duty Sunday.
Officer Tamang joined the Gwinnett County Police Department in July 2024 and graduated from the 121st Police Academy in May 2025. He immigrated to the United States from Nepal 10 years ago. He leaves behind a fiancée as well as family in Pennsylvania.
Officer Tamang’s Gwinnett County patrol vehicle has been placed outside Gwinnett County Police Headquarters, located at 770 Hi Hope Road in Lawrenceville, for anyone who would like to come by and pay their respects.
The Celebration of Life service for Officer Tamang will take place on Saturday, February 7 at 12Stone Church, located at 1322 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The service will begin at 10:00am, with Gwinnett Police asking for everyone to be seated by 9:30am.

The parking lot for 12Stone Church will open at 8:00am. Overflow parking will be available at GateCity Church at 1446 Calvin Davis Circle in Lawrenceville.
Shortly after the service, there will be a procession to Tim Stewart Funeral Home at 300 Simonton Road in Lawrenceville. For more information, visit GwinnettCounty.com.
MPO David Reed, who was also injured in the attack Sunday, has undergone surgery and is doing well at this time. MPO Reed joined the Gwinnett County Police Department in September 2015 and graduated from the 94th Police Academy.

When visiting GwinnettCounty.com, you’ll find a new look, intuitive organization, and updated features to improve your online experience. There are a few important changes.
The new website includes a single sign-on login. Residents will use the email address affiliated with their account to log in instead of a username. Existing account passwords associated with a user’s email address may need to be changed to meet updated security standards. The water bill feature will remain the same for now.
While the web address GwinnettCounty.com will remain unchanged, page URLs will change because we’ve improved our site structure. Please remember to update your bookmarks.

Have items that are hard to dispose of? Bring them to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day event on Saturday, February 7 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds! From 9:00am to 1:00pm, residents can bring up to five disposable containers of items like motor oil, batteries, cleaning chemicals, and more. For a complete list of acceptable items, visit GwinnettCB.org.

Gwinnett County will host its Black History Month celebration on Wednesday, February 11 at 6:30pm to acknowledge the past and how it contributes to a brighter and more equitable future. Join us at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center for an evening honoring the cultures that contribute to Black history through music, dance, food, and art.

Mark your calendars for the Jimmy Carter Boulevard Small Area Plan Open House! We’re refining the vision for a more walkable, safe, and connected Jimmy Carter Boulevard and want your input. Drop by Lucky Shoals Park in Norcross between 6:00pm and 7:30pm on Thursday, February 19 to review draft recommendations, share feedback, and speak with project team members. | Learn how to save water and money at a Water Workshop | | |
Why pay to water your flower beds when rain is free? Learn about water conservation through rainwater harvesting and how it can save you money on your water bill at the Rain Barrel Water Workshop on Saturday, February 28 from 10:00am to noon at the Grayson Senior Center. Registration is required.
Classes fill up quickly and a $40 pre-payment is required to take home your new rain barrel. To register and learn about other upcoming workshops, visit the Events and Workshops page.
| | New date set for Trapped and Trafficked town hall | | |
Following January’s winter storm, District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins III is now hosting the human trafficking awareness town hall, Trapped and Trafficked, on Monday, March 9 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center auditorium. The free event is open to the public and will feature a moderated panel discussion with survivors, law enforcement officials, justice system leaders, mental health professionals, and community advocates.
Following the discussion, attendees can attend a resource fair and connect with organizations providing critical services, resources, and support. The Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center is located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.
| | Stay warm during the coldest nights | | |
Gwinnett County offers five warming stations for residents to receive temporary, overnight relief from long-term exposure to frigid temperatures. These stations will be open from 6:00pm to 7:00am on nights when temperatures fall to 35 degrees Fahrenheit or below, providing residents with a meal and a warm place to rest. Visit GwinnettCounty.com/WarmingStations for locations and the latest activation status.

| | County offices closed for Presidents Day | | |
All Gwinnett County Government offices, apart from operations required for the comfort and safety of residents, will be closed Monday, February 16 for the Presidents Day holiday and will resume regular hours on Tuesday, February 17. Trash and recycling collection will remain the same during the holiday.
