Gwinnett County joins the nation in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! The month shines a spotlight on the rich history and significant contributions of our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. This year's national theme, "Choosing Humanity," encourages residents to intentionally focus on shared humanity, the strength of community, and the beauty of diverse cultures.
A highlight of our month-long celebration will be the annual AAPI Heritage Cultural Night on Friday, May 30 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. To learn more about Gwinnett County's AAPI Heritage Month, visit GwinnettCounty.com/CelebrateAAPI.
| | Flip the script on aging during Older Americans Month | | |
Gwinnett County is highlighting our vibrant senior community with a lineup of events this May in honor of Older Americans Month. This annual campaign is designed to challenge stereotypes about aging and empower older adults to remain engaged, independent, and included. Residents ages 50 and older are invited to celebrate this year's theme, "Flip the Script on Aging," at various activities around the county.

| | Attend an 85 Study Public Meeting | | |
Gwinnett County and the Georgia Department of Transportation have partnered to conduct a comprehensive study of Interstate 85 between I-285 and I-985, identifying 16 potential transportation projects that improve safety and mobility along the corridor. Residents are invited to attend a public meeting to learn more about the study and share feedback on the proposed recommendations.
The I-85 study area is approximately 18 miles long and primarily located within Gwinnett County, with a small portion in DeKalb County. The study evaluated several types of corridor improvements that address the travel needs of corridor users, including multimodal improvements and freight considerations to alleviate issues on the I-85 corridor. | | Food distribution serves families in need | | |
Struggling with food insecurity? Gwinnett County, in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, is helping those in need through free drive-thru food distributions. Food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The next events will be Tuesday, May 13 at Lenora Park in Snellville and Friday, May 30 at Bryson Park in Lilburn. For more dates, visit GwinnettCounty.com/FoodResources.
| | Ride Gwinnett to merge commuter service with Xpress | | |
Beginning Monday, June 16, Ride Gwinnett commuter service will merge operations with Xpress, a regional commuter bus service operated by the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority. Current Ride Gwinnett commuter customers are encouraged to review the upcoming service changes and plan for a smooth transition to Xpress.
These updates are part of the ATL’s systemwide service changes to improve efficiency in response to decreased ridership and shifts in commute patterns following the pandemic. Visit our commuter page for more information.
