Dear friends and fellow travel industry people,

Sabaidee! Xin chào!

Time flies! Here we are, halfway through 2024, with one foot already stepping into 2025. The green season has officially begun in our part of the world, offering a rejuvenating break for our destinations and all our operating teams. This period of renewal energises us as we look forward to reaching the next milestones on our journey.

As we embrace this season of growth and transformation, we have so much to share with you. Exciting updates about our new management systems, our unwavering commitment to responsible travel, and the latest news from our exciting destinations are just the beginning. But before we dive into these updates, let's take a moment to debunk a classic travel myth about our region!

Is May to September NOT the Best Season to Travel?

Let’s rethink this question at the onset. The answer is a resounding NO.

While this myth was deeply rooted, it stemmed from a time when air-conditioning and swimming pools were rare luxuries, a 30-minute rainfall could flood an entire city, and travellers came to Vietnam or Laos mainly for rugged outdoor adventures. Back then, it might have made sense to avoid the May to September season. Times have already changed — and so has the comfort of amenities, the cities' water management systems, and even the idea of travel. The influx of international visitors has also transformed the landscape; the November to March 2023 - 2024 seasons saw our destinations bustling with travellers, which highlighted the popularity of this time of year. However, this influx sometimes led to limited availability in travel services, making it a bit more challenging to enjoy a seamless experience.

Nowadays, May to September SHOULD also be considered the best season to travel: there are fewer crowds, charming spots, cheaper hotels, the best guides, lush green nature, and breathtaking rice fields — all enjoyed with the comfort of air-conditioned cars and rooms. And let's be honest, who doesn't love a brief, intense tropical rain to cool things down?

We have several recommended adventures for your travellers to make the most of this promising season. The terraced rice fields of the Mu Cang Chai region, which are only cultivated from July to September, offer a stunning visual experience unique to this time of year. The lotus flower season, spanning from June to August, provides a picturesque and serene backdrop for any adventure.

Additionally, we have a couple of unique and beautiful beach resorts in south central coast of Vietnam, namely Zannier Bai San Ho in Phú Yên and InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in Sơn Trà. These luxurious properties provide an exceptional coastal experience that can, by themselves, motivate people to travel to the country.

The best beach season in this part of Vietnam is from March to September, during the said green season, making it the perfect time to experience this exceptional destination. These tours promise to showcase the very best of our region during this often-overlooked season. Let us help your guests discover the magic of May to September in Vietnam!

The Promising Re-engineering of Our Operations Management

The high season hit like a storm for all ground services handlers in the region. We faced the first post-pandemic massive wave of inbound travellers, encountering operational challenges and relearning how to swim in these new conditions. This experience prompted us to rethink and rebuild a stronger, more resilient foundation. As such, we have been actively enhancing our team's competencies, strengthening our operating procedures, and designing an innovative system to improve delivery.

The results of these ongoing efforts promise to bring greater consistency in tour guiding quality, a selection of vehicles better adapted to diverse client expectations and budgets, a lower carbon footprint for many of our tours, and smoother airport transfers. It's an inflatable transformation, and we look forward to sharing more on this with you!

DTH Travel Laos is Taking an Early Turn Towards Sustainability

While our 14 destinations progress towards Travelife's Partnership, our Laos unit has maintained a forward-thinking approach since 2023, now poised for certification. Central to our strategy is the implementation of a robust Sustainability Policy, steering our focus towards the development of tours with a heightened emphasis on responsible travel and greener office operations. This includes transitioning to refillable and glass water bottles to eradicate single-use plastics. Additionally, our newly designed excursions and city tours prioritise eco-friendly transportation options like bicycles and tuk-tuks over private vehicles. Complementing these efforts, we're dedicated to adopting greener office practices, proactively monitoring and curbing our energy consumption.

As concerns about over-tourism persist, giving importance to sustainability remains paramount to our ethos. We extend an invitation to all trade partners and suppliers keen on embarking on this journey to get in touch with us.
