COVID-19 RAPID TESTING KITS FOR BUSINESSES

The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Government of Alberta and the Alberta Chambers of Commerce to provide complimentary COVID-19 rapid testing kits to small and medium-sized businesses. By frequently testing employees, businesses can stop outbreaks before they happen, keeping employees and customers safe.
* A Chamber membership is NOT required.

Rapid testing kits will be available for pick up only at our office in Centre 2000, located at 11330 106 Street, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 7X9, Unit 127.
Designated pick-up times are between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), where businesses can send one representative to collect their rapid testing kits during those select hours.

City Council Approves New Development Incentives and Grants to Grow Investment in Grande Prairie

City Council approved a new economic development program called the Development Incentives and Grants Program designed to provide a long-term benefit to the community by creating economic stimulus and support investment in Grande Prairie.

The program consists of three incentives and two grants that support strategic investment in industrial, commercial, and residential areas. The program will also expand the tax base over 10 years.

County of Grande Prairie Launches Business Priorities Survey

The County of Grande Prairie has launched the third phase of the Business Retention & Expansion (BR + E) survey, a follow-up to earlier phases completed in 2018 and 2019. The survey aims to help the County gain a better understanding of the ongoing future plans and needs of local businesses. It will also offer insight into how business owners and managers view the community as a place to do business. 

Survey results will be used to plan future economic development activities focused on the top priorities of local businesses. The survey is random and runs to July 16. The County encourages businesses to participate in the survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete. 
ACC welcomes federal shop local funding

"Today's announcement is good news for our local business operators, our communities, and our province as a whole," says ACC President and CEO Ken Kobly. "As Alberta prepares to head into Stage 3 reopening, this investment is ideally timed to help gear up our local economies."

Minister Ng announces Shop Local investment benefiting Canada’s small businesses

The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, announced the launch of Shop Local, a Canada-wide investment of $33 million to encourage Canadians to shop locally.

More Albertans to receive $1,200 Critical Worker Benefit

76,500 more workers, including those in social services and the privates sector, will receive a one-time payment to recognize the risks they have taken to support Albertans and the economy.


Alberta 2030: Expanding apprenticeship education

Alberta’s government is inviting post-secondary institutions and industry groups to collaborate and submit proposals for new certificate and diploma programs that provide a majority of education through paid on-the-job mentorship.
Rewarding investment and driving recovery

Alberta is adopting the capital cost allowance changes announced in the 2021 federal budget to encourage investment and support Alberta’s economic recovery.

The Government of Canada announced that eligible applicants may now submit an application. Applicants that have projects ready to proceed are strongly encouraged to submit their applications by July 23, 2021.
Government of Canada launches online calculator to help businesses apply for the new Canada Recovery Hiring Program

The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue, launched an online calculator to help eligible employers prepare their Canada Recovery Hiring Program applications. This calculator integrates the newly announced CRHP with the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), automatically showing applicants which subsidy will provide them with more support, based on the information they enter. 

Eligible employers will be able to apply for the CRHP as of July 7, 2021, when the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will open applications through My Business Account and Represent a Client. The CRA will begin to issue CRHP payments to eligible employers during the week of July 12, 2021.
Regulatory Roadmaps – the path to a better regulatory system for businesses and all Canadians

The Government of Canada shared the Roadmaps resulting from the second round of Regulatory Reviews on clean technology, digitalization and technology neutral regulations, and international standards.

The Government of Canada announced $117 million to renew the Indigenous Community Business Fund (ICBF). The ICBF provides non-repayable financial contributions to Indigenous microbusinesses and community- or collectively owned businesses across the country that do not qualify for other existing business supports.
