Minister's Musings
Dear Friends
It’s finally happened… Spring is here! Yeah, yeah, I know…we have had snow in May before. But the birds are singing, and the Cobra-Chickens are hissing at everyone in the Costco parking lot. If that's not an undeniable sign of Spring, then I don’t know what is!
I said to my daughter this week: The one thing being Canadian has taught me is that I really am starting to like Winter. It will never be my favorite season, but I have learned how to dress for it, and now I find myself dreading the winter months less than before. That said, Spring will always be welcome to me! There is something about life coming back into the world. The trees are coming into bloom, and the grass is greening up around us. There is something symbolic about Spring. The long, cold, dark nights of January and February do not last forever. They sure do feel endless at points, but Spring is coming, if we are just patient enough to wait. Life is that way, too, isn't it? There are seasons that feel like the long, dark nights will never end. Times when the grief, depression, fear, whatever it is, feels like it's winning. But then, sure enough, the darkness lifts, and we start to feel hopeful again. And like Spring, there may be lots of false starts! We have good days followed by sad ones. We just start to think things are better, and then a day brings it all back. But little by little, step by step, things do start to get brighter. While we may never return to life as we knew it before, a new season can dawn, bringing us joy.
May this Spring remind us of the Goodness of God, who will always transform our darkness into light!
Blessings,
Rev Rob +

Dear friends,
What a wonderful covenanting service we had this past Sunday at Riverside. The music was perfect, and the worship service was so well done. We loved having the young people be part of the service, and their banner is greatly appreciated. We will proudly display it in the churches! And the dinner after was delicious.
Many thanks to everyone who made the day so successful. For your help in the worship service, with the youth, the music, and for those who helped prepare and serve the meal, we say thank you! Its been a great first year and we look forward to seeing our future unfold together!
Blessings.
Rev Rob, Rev Michelle, and Rev Kerry +
| | | Thank you for the Welcome Baskets | |
Thank you to Wesley Knox Church for donating 5 Welcome Baskets to our Coves Landing residents. The cleaning products and tools, bedding, towels, laundry items, and personal care products will really help new residents get settled in. As they begin their transition from homelessness to stability, they will know that their community cares about them. Thanks for being part of that welcoming message!
Here is a photo of Jess (shared with her permission), the first resident to move into Coves Landing a few weeks ago. Please share my thanks with your congregation for their generosity.

A Huge Thank You
To our choir security team. Every Thursday afternoon this team greeted our youngest choiristers, making sure they were safe and knew where to go for choir practices.
Cathy Park and Dave Lumley got their names on the sign up board right away. I knew the program was in good hands. Thanks also to Margo Better Hahn and Mike Ryan.
Want get involved? Watch for the sign up list to go up mid August. Or speak to Cathy Park or Cathie Banks.

Climate Action: Clean up leaves in the street/gutters.
Did you know? Water quality is affected by leaves because when they decompose in water bodies, they release nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus. While these nutrients are beneficial for plants and soil, an excess of them in water can lead to algae blooms, deplete oxygen, and harm aquatic life. Leaves can also carry pollutants and sediments into waterways.

Anyone wishing to place flowers in the sanctuary
for a special occasion or in memory of a loved one, is encouraged to do so.
It brightens our worship, and, by adding a message in the bulletin,
it connects us as a congregation.
If you wish to place flowers, please call or email Liz Dunlop.
She will give you the information you need and confirm the date, and make sure the office has the information for the bulletin. Thank you!
