Minister's Musings

As most of you know, Rob and I just returned this week from a vacation in the Cayman Islands. It was amazing! I have always felt a spiritual draw to tropical climates.  I love palm trees and listening to the sounds of the surf. Now, if I can just find the part of Canada that has that!

It was so wonderful to get away. We need respites like that. We all need times when no one needs us, and we can just focus on our own needs.  I am admittedly not a reader. I wish I were. But I did finish 2 books I had started but never finished… and I started a third! We met some very nice people from all over the US and Canada, and even exchanged info with some we hope to continue friendships with. And I had a whole list of island foods I wanted to sample.  Trust me…all the boxes were ticked. 🙂 YUM!

So, as we enter the summer, which will (hopefully) bring warmer weather, I encourage all of us to think about the importance of feeding our souls and caring for ourselves. And it doesn't mean you need a vacation! Maybe your self-care involves intentionally taking a walk in the woods or sitting on the patio with a morning cup of coffee, doing nothing but reading. For me, I keep a bag in the car, and on a nice afternoon, I may drive to a local beach and write the sermon on a blanket on the sand. Last year, that didn't happen nearly as much as I hope the weather will afford this summer.

As we approach the May holiday, I challenge each of us to think of ways and even steal tiny moments to calm your spirit and feed your soul.  You will be a better person for it, and trust me…others will notice!

Enjoy the week,

Rev Rob +

We are excited to share that we will participating in the Period Equity Project - Fill the Truck campaign run by the Fairy Godparents - London Area.

The Period Equity Project (PEP) is Fairy Godparents' volunteer-run initiative providing free menstrual products to anyone who needs them in London, Ontario. PEP began as a grassroots effort after a community poll revealed that many London residents lacked reliable access to menstrual products. Over time, it has grown into a citywide program focused on dignity, choice, and accessibility.

In February 2026, PEP partnered with the London Public Library to make free menstrual products available in washrooms at every branch - including men's, women's, and family spaces - ensuring access for anyone who needs it, privately and without having to ask. We want people to have dignity and independence; these products should already be free.

Their annual flagship event, Fill the Truck, is the centrepiece of their collection efforts. Now in its 4th year, the event mobilizes 500+ community members to donate period products and essential goods.

We will have a donation bin in the SANCTUARY starting May 31 until June 26th for you to place your donations.

Thank you in advance for helping to do your part to maintain equitable and inclusive access to people across London!

A Stewardship Thank You

The Stewardship committee thanks each person who completed our 'service opportunity' form indicating the areas of service that interest them. These names have been forwarded to the appropriate leaders. Those of you who may still wish to complete a form will find them at the welcome desk on Sunday.

The Committee is pleased we had responses to 12 different areas of opportunity within the church. A continuing need is for a church handyman. So, if you are someone who would fit that description and be available during the day it would be really beneficial having you assist in that capacity.

We value all the involvement as we truly are stronger together. Our email for any questions or information is stewardship@ wesleyknox.com

Cantare Community Choirs at Wesley-Knox

Medallion Ribbon Award Program

In the Cantare Community Choirs at Wesley-Knox, in Luminaria and Mysterium, experienced choristers wear a Chorister Medallion on a ribbon over the stole of their choir gown.

The colour of the ribbon indicates experience and choral achievement

and is awarded at the discretion of the conductor.

Note, that the ultimate ribbon color for each singer does not indicate his or her value as a chorister in the choir.

Also, achievement of the Blue Ribbon will give a child enough ability to enjoy singing in a choir for the rest of his or her life.

White

1. Achieved by everyone in their second year of choir

Blue

1. Can sing the melody

and words in tune

2. Watches the conductor carefully when singing

3. Stands like a Singer

Red

1. Can follow the music with finger

2. Can sing descants confidently without confusion

3. Has a professional attitude in performance

Green

1. Takes low singer’s breaths

2. Can sing a part (soprano 2, alto, tenor, or bass) confidently without confusion

3. Shows leadership in the choir

Gold

1. Can Sight-Sing a hymn part without it being played for them

2. Is a leader in the choir

3. Helps with the management of the ensemble

When a chorister achieves the Gold Ribbon, their name plate is mounted on the

Gold Ribbon Plaque, which hangs upstairs in the hall across from the Choir Office.

The choristers who have achieved the Gold Ribbon so far are:

Mallory Brennan, Owen Spicer, Christian Haworth, Book Kimber-Johnson,

Benjamin Chapman, Jacob Horak, Sylvia Sass, Elle Tomorad, Hannah Haworth,

Sienna Caro, and Oliver Horak

Anyone wishing to place flowers in the sanctuary

for a special occasion or in memory of a loved one, is encouraged to do so.

It brightens our worship, and, by adding a message in the bulletin,

it connects us as a congregation.

If you wish to place flowers, please call or email Liz Dunlop.

She will give you the information you need and confirm the date, and make sure the office has the information for the bulletin. Thank you!
