A Look Back at SCFD Month

In February, Governor Polis proclaimed February 21 - March 21 SCFD Month! We kicked off this month of Culture for All with our annual Day at the Capitol. From screen-printing to birds of prey, we had a great morning at the Capitol connecting with legislators, funded partners, and members of the public about arts, culture and science. Throughout the month, many of you also added some wonder to your feeds by taking part in our #SCFDMonth2024 social media campaign. Thanks for celebrating with us!

New Staff? Make Sure They're Signed Up for SCFD Email Communications!

As the 2024 grant cycle continues, please ensure that any new staff at your organization who might be involved with SCFD funds get signed up for our email communications! We send regular updates to organizations by Tier regarding grant deadlines, trainings, and more.

  • New Employee Orientation: What is the SCFD? What is the Collaborative of the SCFD?

For new employees or for those needing a refresher, presented by SCFD Program Officers and the Collaborative of the SCFD's Director. What is the SCFD and how does it relate to my organization? What is the Collaborative and how can I participate? Learn how you can be professionally connected to our amazing art, culture and science community in the Denver-Metro area. This will be a general overview about the two organizations and how they are interrelated. All tiers welcome to attend on April 18, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

  • The Transformative Power of Storytelling and Collaboration

Join the Collaborative of the SCFD for a keynote and Q&A featuring Josh Miller, MBA (he/they) on April 23, 2024 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Storytelling is not just an art; it's a powerful impetus for change. That statement embodies Josh Miller’s ethos: “Being visible can shift culture, and sharing our stories can be the catalyst that changes how people see and move through the world.” In the nonprofit sector, storytelling can be the spark that ignites transformation in thought, policy, and action. When blended with collaboration - across departments or through co-creation between institutions and community members – you can unleash a powerful force that can drive social, political, and cultural movements forward. From the sense of belonging of program participants to supporting racial healing and reconciliation, and increasing access to resources, Miller will share stories and real-world case studies that bring these approaches to life. Whether you have a lean team or hundreds of people on staff, these approaches are scalable. Their insights underscore the instrumental role that storytelling and collaboration play in fostering inclusive and equitable spaces and narratives, with the session culminating in action steps and resources to support your organization in putting the learnings into practice. The keynote will be held on Zoom (passcode 305718).

Grant Opportunity: City of Littleton Arts and Culture

In 2022, Littleton voters approved a 5% lodgers' tax on hotels, motels, and short-term rentals. The revenue from this tax is used to support arts, culture and tourism in the Littleton community. 2024 grant applications are now open! Eligible non-profit organizations are not required to be headquartered in Littleton but MUST offer programming in Littleton. Applications are due on April 12, 2024. Learn more here.
