SCFD Stakeholder Engagement Process Approved

Recently, the SCFD Board of Directors approved a framework for collecting the input the district will need from stakeholders and supporters to chart a vision for the district’s future. Over the next few years, we will conduct research and engage with SCFD stakeholders to gather feedback and build consensus on the right framework to carry the district into its next 30 years. View the approved stakeholder engagement process and stay tuned for updates on our website here.

County Cultural Council Openings

Each SCFD county has a county cultural council made up of volunteers who live in that county and are appointed by either their board of county commissioners or city council. Council members review grant applications from Tier III organizations and make funding decisions, which are then reviewed by the board of county commissioners or city council and approved by the SCFD board of directors. There are several openings:

Boulder County Cultural Council: The Boulder County Cultural Council is currently recruiting to fill two council seats. Applicants need to be 18 years old or older and live in Boulder County. Interested applicants can learn more and apply here or contact Aleta Sherman, the Boulder County Cultural Council Liaison, at asherman@bouldercounty.gov.

CU's English Internship Program Seeks Community Mentors

The CU English Internship program currently seeks new community partners to serve as mentors to students for the upcoming fall 2024 term (though partnerships often develop into longer-term relationships). Each participating student is matched with a community organization based on interests and abilities. The intern works with the site supervisor at the organization or online for 120 hours (often 10 hours/week for 12 weeks) and attends bi-weekly Career Development seminars. Each internship runs for a single semester. The interns receive 3 course credits for their work. The English Department offers both compensated and uncompensated opportunities.

These students flourish in a diverse range of professional fields; many of them have strengths in copywriting, research, editing, analyzing complex information, creative thinking, cultural literacy, and persuasive writing. For more information, or to partner with the program, please contact Rachael Simonetta.
