AGMS DESIGNATED AS A SCHOOL TO WATCH®
Congratulations to our administration, teachers, staff and students! Alexander Graham Middle School has been re-designated as a School to Watch®. Many strengths were noted during the application process, including a positive and collaborative learning environment where students’ developmental needs are emphasized, a growth mindset among stakeholders where student growth is the priority, and a student-centered culture where high expectations for all students is the norm. Our school demonstrates academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and organizational structures that support the success of our students.

We are VERY excited about this and look forward to continuing our progress as a School to Watch®!

Staff Appreciation Week is fast approaching! The week of March 7-11th the PTO Staff Appreciation Committee has plans to celebrate our amazing staff, but we still need your help. We are asking families to purchase $25 Amazon gift cards and drop them off in the front office. These gift cards will be given to our staff to show them our appreciation for all they do for our students. Please only purchase $25 gift cards or you may use this LINK to purchase. Please contact Helen Burns at [email protected] with any questions and thank you for helping us make this an amazing week for our staff.
STAFF APPRECIATION
UPDATE
The PTO Staff Appreciation Committee treated our teachers and staff to a festive candy bar this past week. We love showing our wonderful teachers and staff how much they are appreciated!
MASK UPDATE
On Tuesday, February 22nd, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education voted to make masks optional effective March 7th. At this time, masks remain required on CMS transportation vehicles due to federal rules. Until March 7th, all students, staff and visitors must continue to wear masks indoors unless a medical professional has provided a written exemption.

Even after masks become optional, CMS recommends that masks be worn when indoors. The policy change simply means that the choice is up to families regarding whether their students wear a mask or not. For more information, you may read the CMS press release HERE.
SURVEY DEADLINE EXTENDED
The CMS Family Engagement Survey deadline has been extended and will now be open through March 3rd.

It is a 5-10 minute survey exploring parent / guardian perceptions of:
  • Student and family support
  • Student safety
  • Communication between schools and families
  • Responsiveness to concerns
  • Opportunities to engage in the school such as volunteering and being asked for input and feedback
  • Access to resources (curriculum, mental health supports, etc.)
  • Online engagement and support

To complete the survey, please go to https://bit.ly/CMS-Family-Survey. Parents / guardians will need their child’s Student ID to complete the survey.
