  • Bea Alley Conference Scholarship for Students Award - The Bea Alley Commemorative Scholarship Award covers the registration fees for one dedicated student nurse in need, allowing them to take advantage of the opportunities and experiences at the annual conference. There are five (5) awards available in 2022, due to the Circle of Light Foundation’s donation.
  • Research Grant Award - The AHNA Research Grant is a competitive grant worth up to $5,000 awarded to member(s) that demonstrate a dedication to advancing holistic nursing practices.
  • Practice Grant: Implementing Institutional Self-Care Activities Award - Recognizing the wonderful activities inspired by past AHNA Practice Grant recipients, the Board of Directors determined beginning in 2020, up to two Practice Grants would be available for award annually with the monetary amount increasing from $1,500 to $3,000. The purpose of the Practice Grant is to provide the initial financial support for the initiation of self-care activities to promote diverse models of Holistic Nursing that will be integrated into the institution (hospital, medical center, nursing home, or freestanding hospice center). The program should be designed to promote and encourage diverse models of holistic nursing activities that are focused on self-care.
  • Institutional Excellence in Holistic Nursing Practice Award - The Institutional Excellence in Holistic Nursing Practice Award recognizes an institution that has implemented innovative holistic approaches that will offer substantive changes to patients, staff, and the institution itself. The institution is also recognized for their dedication to holistic nursing and the incorporation of the core values of holistic nursing practices. Nominate an institution today!
AHNA Membership Survey
520 Responses So Far

In our effort to consistently improve the membership services provided by the American Holistic Nurses Association, the AHNA Board of Directors invites you to participate in this survey. Since Monday, January 17, 2022, we have had 520 responses.


For responders in the first 100 hours, we are having prize drawings, including, $100 worth of AHNA Online Continuing Education, an AHNA Beverage Cup Sampler Package, and Holistic Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 3rd Edition.

Everyone who completes the survey before the Monday, February 7, 2022 deadline, will be entered into a prize drawing, including a Complimentary Registration to 2022 AHNA Conference in Albuquerque, NM, an AHNA Beach Towel, an AHNA Logo Bistro Mug, and The Wisdom of the Whole: Coaching for Joy, Health and Success Linda Bark Coaching Book.

The average time spent on the survey is around 10 minutes for 42 questions. This survey was emailed to all AHNA members on Monday, January 17 at around 7 p.m. EST.

AHNA is seeking a full-time Holistic Nurse Practice Specialist to implement, evaluate, and manage practice-related programs and activities that promote our mission and vision. The Holistic Nurse Practice Specialist must be a Registered Nurse with at least a BSN, and be currently pursuing or certified as a holistic nurse (HNB-BC, APHN-BC, AHN-BC). They should have excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to interface with members on scope of practice-related issues, manage project development from initiation to completion with staff and volunteers, assemble resources, and promote holistic nursing and self-care. Promoting holistic nursing with other specialty healthcare provider organizations and governmental organizations will be required. The Holistic Nurse Practice Specialist position is full-time, non-remote in the Topeka, Kansas headquarters office and reports to the Executive Director.

Ann Marie Chiasson
Ann Marie Chiasson, MD, MPH will be the Keynote Speaker for the 2022 AHNA Conference

Ann Marie Chiasson, MD, MPH is the Director of the Fellowship at the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine and an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Arizona. She is board-certified in Family Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Hospice, and Palliative Medicine. She earned a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Health and an MD with honors from Dalhousie School of Medicine. Dr. Chiasson completed a residency in Family Medicine at University of British Columbia. She is a 2004 alumna of the University of Arizona Fellowship in Integrative Medicine and has been on faculty there since 2006. She also serves currently on the American Board of Integrative Medicine.
 
In addition to Integrative Medicine, Dr. Chiasson has worked in Family Practice, Addiction Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative care.  She began exploring energy healing prior to medical school; she has extensive experience exploring energy medicine and alternative healing practices, including time spent with Mayan shamanic healers and psychic surgeons in the Yucatan peninsula. She is the author of Energy Healing – the Essentials of Self Care (Sounds True 2013) and co-author of Self-Healing with Energy Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil (Sounds True 2010). She speaks nationally on Integrative Medicine, Integrative Pain Management, and End of life care, Dietary Supplements, and Energy Healing Techniques from a multi-cultural perspective.

In addition to being a Board Certified Holistic Nurse, Michelle Lisenbee, RN, BSN, HNB-BC, BCMTB is also a Board-Certified Licensed Massage therapist and self-taught mixed media artist. With more than thirty years as a healthcare provider, she has trained in various bodywork and holistic therapies and has come to believe that true connection is where healing happens. Exploring ways to cultivate space for this connection both in her own life and the lives of others is her calling.
