AHRC is Growing!
Agency Opens its 28th Residence this March
AHRC Suffolk was awarded its 28th Individual Residential Alternative! Located in Old Field, NY, the 12-bed residence was operated by OPWDD out of the Long Island Developmental Disability State Office (DDSO).
Unlike any other agency IRA's, the Old Field house serves individuals age 40-70 with a duel diagnosis of a developmental disability and a psychiatric disorder. As the agency faces another year of projected budget cuts from the State, innovative projects like the Old Field IRA will help AHRC "stay viable in times of no new development," said Chief Operating Officer, Lisa Bochner.
"This is really exciting for us-it's a great opportunity to serve individuals in a private, non-profit specialized way," said Lisa. "We will provide protective oversight while enhancing supports so each individual can pursue their desired life interests."
