May 2016
President's Address
Hello all! I'm excited to begin this new journey with you as your newest AMTA-SC President!

I'm Katie, I was born in Charleston, SC and grew up in a small town in Berkeley County. I currently reside in Charleston, SC and am a Yoga Instructor. After receiving a degree in Photography, I became interested in health care so I decided to pursue an additional career in Massage Therapy. I graduated from Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC in May 2011 and have been licensed since June 2011. I started volunteering with the AMTA-SC Chapter the Summer of 2012. I've always had the desire to help others and volunteer when I can. When the board found out my strengths in commercial graphics, I took over the Newsletter Editor position & eventually became a Delegate. I was also appointed 3rd Vice President at a later time. Volunteering with the Board and serving as an adjunct massage instructor at Trident Technical College fueled my passion for the Massage Therapy field. I want to improve communication within the massage therapy field and educate those that need to know more about our career.

I want to thank Amanda Rose, our Immediate Past President for her time as President, I'm excited to have you by my side to guide me on the right path as the new AMTA-SC President. Also, thanks to our amazing board of volunteers for making this past Spring Convention another success! We can't wait for our Fall Education Event in Columbia, stay tuned for Infant Massage with Valerie DeMasi.

Thanks y'all,

Katie Heatley, President

State Challenge!
Join other states in a FUNdraising contest to support the Massage Therapy Foundation. Why?

1. To invest in the future of the profession

2. To increase financial support to provide more research, education and community service grants.

If 600 out of the 800 of us donated $10 each, we could have a national recognition for naming a Community Service Award and through all MTF media channels. We can do this!
