Addison Building Bright Futures
|
Greetings,
I write this newsletter to you this month full of optimism. I am about to graduate from the Early Childhood Leadership Institute through the Snelling Center for Government, and am filled with hope for our youngest population in Vermont. I encourage you to read more below, and reach out with any questions! This is an amazing opportunity for personal and professional leadership development subsidized through the Early Learning Challenge grant. I am grateful to have participated, and more dedicated than ever to make a difference for children and families in Addison County.
Additionally, last week alone, there were over 100 staff trained in Addison County (my humble estimate) in Supporting Children through Complex Grief and Loss, New Staff Interagency Orientation, Early Childhood Mathematics, Advanced Specialized Care and more! I am so impressed by the
dedication and professionalism of our human services and early childhood staff here in Addison County.
Neuroscience 101 - MiniBury and Dr. Jody Brakeley have teamed up to shed some light on early brain development, and specifically what happens to the brain when a child (or adult) has a tantrum. Read more
here. See below to learn about upcoming training opportunities with Dr. Brakeley.

Healthy Children, Happy Families
De-Stress for the Holidays
This workshop is the first in a series of free events for parents of young children. This fun and lighthearted series will allow parents to mingle with like-minded peers, enjoy a short presentation addressing challenges we all face as parents, and learn about local wellness opportunities in our communities.
The holidays can be a stressful time for all of us, so join Dr. Jody Brakeley and other experts to learn how stress affects the brain, child development, and family relationships. Experts will share ideas about how to manage your own stress, as well as ways to increase
positive family relationships. Kids are welcome, and will enjoy activities, dinner, and free child care!
This is a WIC-approved activity.
